DENTON, Texas - Lynn Anderson, who won a Grammy for "Rose Garden" in 1970, was charged with drunk driving Thursday after police found her passed out in her car on the shoulder of a highway.
Police received a report Thursday morning of a car weaving and driving onto the shoulder on Interstate 35. The caller followed the car until it pulled over and stopped near Denton, about 35 miles north of Dallas, police said.
Anderson, 57, was arrested after officers woke her and conducted a field sobriety test. She was released on $1,000 bond, police said.
Anderson, who lives in Taos, N.M., was the Country Music Association's female vocalist of the year in 1971. She released a bluegrass album this year called "Pure Country," her first album in 12 years.
Sorry Lynn Anderson, I am absolutely against DRUNKS on the Highway.
I take it they won't promise her a "rose garden" when they sentence her.
But, did you do a pat down?
Sounds like a dangerous criminal to me. (sarcasm)
Wouldn't you love to be the cop that walks up to the door and says "I beg your pardon..."
Well, she did say in that song "smile for a while and let's be jolly." Maybe this is what she had in mind.
There's got to be a little rain, sometimes.
How about a "Nick Nolte/Diana Ross" type pic?
I think alcoholics refer to that as "taking a nap."
Better look before you leap still waters run deep...and there won't always be someone there to pull you out, and you know what I'm talking about...
...
So smile for awhile and let's be jolly, love shouldn't be so melancholy, come along and grab the good times that we share...
Had no idea til now who sang that song. Wonder who wrote the tune. I like it - it must have every single CW hook there ever was written.
Hope she gets some help.

I remember a few years back somebody sampled that song in a techno version, it was weird to say the least.
Rose garden ping.
If they convict her is she going to.........Sing Sing? :o)
Rhinestone Cowboy Bump.
LOL, that would be fun to hear.
She needs to do something with her hair.
Nah, she just woke up from a little side of the road nap and hadn't had her 10th cup of coffee yet.
