That's interesting news. Even though I have an avid interest in history, I've largely ignored the history of the Aztecs, Mayans, and other civilizations of the western hemisphere.

Much of their the way they lived (and died) are brought to life in Gary Jennings historical novel "AZTEC". It's a good read!

That's interesting news. Even though I have an avid interest in history, I've largely ignored the history of the Aztecs, Mayans, and other civilizations of the western hemisphere.

My dad gave me his high school history book, circa 1945, and of COURSE those cultures would be ignored. What did they possibly contribute to Western Culture, other than providing natural resources for the Engine of the Economy?

I sure miss the days before Liberal Angst, when we knew America was put here by God to be an example to the world, and that we were the pinnacle of civilization. (Don't take this for sarcasm. I think the book is right.)
