Columbine victim's kin settle suit
By The Denver Post
Article Published: Wednesday, December 01, 2004

A civil lawsuit brought by the family of a Columbine High School shooting victim against a former Arapahoe County sheriff's deputy has been settled out of court.

Sue Petrone and Brian Rohrbough, the parents of slain student Daniel Rohrbough, have dropped their suit against James Taylor.

After the April 20, 1999, shootings, Taylor told the 15-year-old's family he was present when Daniel Rohrbough was shot. Taylor told the family he heard machine-gun fire, saw a Denver police officer in the area and watched Rohrbough go down.

Taylor later admitted fabricating the story and was fired. Rohrbough's parents sued Taylor on the grounds that his "outrageous" and "negligent" conduct caused them emotional and mental distress and loss of enjoyment of life.

Details of the settlement are confidential, said attorney Barry Arrington, who represented Petrone and Rohrbough.

The case was scheduled to go to trial Tuesday.

The killer's parents had nothing to do with that?

I have to admit, Taylor's comments were stupid.

However, Rohrbough's actions since his son's death have been borderline crazy. He's harassed the president of the NRA, sued anyone remotely connected to the Columbine disaster, protested in front of KMart headquarters in Michigan, to name a few.

I can't imagine what it would be like to lose a child in such a vicious way, but I think he's lost a lot of quality of life due to his reaction to the crime.

why not sue michael moore for reminding everyone of the tragedy in his movie bowling for columbine. I would support that!

Believe you have Brian Rohrbough confused with Tom Mauser.

Oy vey. My apologies. They all start to blur together after a while. It seems that every other day you hear about another Columbine law suit.

I just wish these families could find some peace.

Rohrbough and the Browns' have done a lot of good work. Stone decided not to run for reelection, that puke DeAngelis is finally going to retire, Thomas did terrible in his bid for Congress and a lot of records have been made public that never would have seen the light of day. Brian, who has certainly been the most outspoken, is a good man. Mauser, however, is a 24 karat puke.

"However, Rohrbough's actions since his son's death have been borderline crazy."

It happens. That's why Arlington is a cemetary instead of the Lee/Custis family estate.
