Anglican Church head: Don't criticize 'gays'

The leader of the Anglican Church says Christians should stop openly criticizing homosexuals, out of concern for their lives.

In a letter targeting the world's Anglican churches, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams said harsh language about homosexuals can lead to murder, according to a BBC report.

Although many traditional Anglican leaders oppose homosexuality, since it is unambiguously condemned in both the Old and New Testaments, Williams reportedly said in his letter: "Any words that could make it easier for someone to attack or abuse a homosexual person are words of which we must repent.

"Do not think repentance is always something others are called to, but acknowledge the failings we all share, sinful and struggling disciples as we are," he added.

In the three-and-a-half page letter, the BBC reported, Williams said homosexuals feel condemned because of their sexuality and that this inner conflict sometimes leads to suicide.

Williams made waves after taking office last year when he supported homosexual priest Dr. Jeffrey John as the bishop of Reading. Ultimately John withdrew in the face of widespread and intense opposition.

And this past June, Williams made more waves by praising a new version of the Bible that flatly contradicts traditional core Christian beliefs on sex and morality.

Titled "Good as New," the new Bible was translated by former Baptist minister John Henson for the "One" organization, to produce what the group calls a "new, fresh and adventurous" translation of the Christian scriptures.

Archbishop Rowan Williams

Williams, the 104th archbishop of Canterbury, and leader of the Church of England, describes it is a book of "extraordinary power," but admitted many would be startled by its content.

The One organization that produced the new Bible translation is dedicated to "establish[ing] peace, justice, dignity and rights for all." It is also focused on "sustainable use of the earth's resources," challenging "oppression, injustice, exclusion and discrimination" as well as accepting "one another, valuing their diversity and experience."

According to Ekklesia, a London-based "theological think tank" that supports the "One" translation:

In keeping with the times, translator Henson deftly translates "demon possession" as "mental illness" and "Son of Man," the expression Jesus frequently used to describe himself, as "the Complete Person." In addition, parables are rendered as "riddles," baptize is to "dip" in water, salvation becomes "healing" or "completeness" and Heaven becomes "the world beyond time and space."

Here, according to the London Times, are a few sample passages:

Mark 1:4

Authorized version: "John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins."

New: "John, nicknamed 'The Dipper,' was 'The Voice.' He was in the desert, inviting people to be dipped, to show they were determined to change their ways and wanted to be forgiven."

Mark 1:10-11

Authorized version: "And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him. And there came a voice from the heaven saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

New: "As he was climbing up the bank again, the sun shone through a gap in the clouds. At the same time a pigeon flew down and perched on him. Jesus took this as a sign that God's spirit was with him. A voice from overhead was heard saying, 'That's my boy! You're doing fine!'"

Matthew 23:25

Authorized version: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!"

New version: "Take a running jump, Holy Joes, humbugs!"

Matthew 26:69-70

Authorized version: "Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came unto him, saying, 'Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.' But he denied before them all, saying, I know not what thou sayest."

New: "Meanwhile Rocky was still sitting in the courtyard. A woman came up to him and said: 'Haven't I seen you with Jesus, the hero from Galilee?" Rocky shook his head and said: 'I don't know what the hell you're talking about!'"

1 Corinthians 7:1-2

KJV: "Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: [It is] good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband."

New: "Some of you think the best way to cope with sex is for men and women to keep right away from each other. That is more likely to lead to sexual offences. My advice is for everyone to have a regular partner."

1 Corinthians 7:8-7

KJV: "I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn."

New: "If you know you have strong needs, get yourself a partner. Better than being frustrated."

Describing the new Bible, Williams said: "Instead of being taken into a specialized religious frame of reference – as happens even with the most conscientious of formal modern translations – and being given a gospel addressed to specialized concerns … we have here a vehicle for thinking and worshipping that is fully earthed, recognizably about our humanity."

One would expect him to be more concerned over harsh language about heterosexuals:

A leader of Minnesota's Log Cabin Republicans—a homosexual activist group that casts itself as a moderate influence in the GOP—is linked to usQueers.com, a radical "queer" group that advocates the murder of Christian pro-family leaders including CWA Chairman Beverly LaHaye, Culture & Family Report has learned.

This would be humorous if it was not such blasphemy to meddle with the Word of God. The bible warns against changing it to your whims.

Anyone who plays with the words of the bible like tinker toys does so at their own peril. He is, after all, God.

Someone really needs to take on the job of a book-length debunking of "homophobia" and all the associated psychiatric malpractice that goes along with it.

The "homophobia" explanation of homosexual mens increased rates of suicide, depression, lack of permanency in relationships, and other issues is as clear an example of projection as any in psychiatry.

Its popularity with the Rowan Williamses of the world is hard to understand.

Don't they know any gay men? Don't they have eyes to see?

The Arch Bishop of Canterbury today announced that harshly criticising the work of the temple moneychangers was unacceptable, as it may cause someone to overturn their usury tables, or perhaps even spur death threats against them. "Some parishioners have shown they do not understand 'love the sinner, hate the sin' as a philosophy, so the church now must teach 'love the sinner, love the sin'."

When reminded of Christ's actions against the temple moneychangers, the head of the Anglican church replied "Righteous indignation is clearly out of step with today's moral values, and as such can no longer be tolerated in the new, tolerant church. Anyone who doesn't like it can go screw themselves."

"...a "new, fresh and adventurous" translation of the Christian scriptures."

As you say it is plainly evil for one to "tinker" with the Holy Scriptures, God's Word to mankind. As if we humans could improve upon God. As if we knew how to make life more fulfilling than God who created us and gifted us with life itself?

This kind of titilating rubbish, being endorsed by the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury? Have all these Anglicans become sin lovers? Have they ever met a heretic they didn't want to embrace into the fold?

Obviously and sadly, so many of the Anglican higher-ups have lost their way and this continual display of evil inclusiveness is evidence against them and is truly sickening!

Before Rowan Williams became Archbishop of Canterbury, he decided to became ordained as a Druid priest. Think about that!

So what does this tell us about the man? He willingly and openly embraces all traditions, even pagan, perverted, evil traditions, as equal to and superior to Christianity.

Homosexual acts are most certainly sinful and should be criticized, although respect and charity should be held for the persons who suffer the inclination, which in and of itself is not sinful.

Authorized version: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!"

Bad news for you, Lawyers and Religious Leaders, because you hold standards before others that you do not live by yourself.

New version: "Take a running jump, Holy Joes, humbugs!"

Screw you, self rightous religious leader, jerks.

What happened to the sense of earned impending judgement, Lawyers, and the whole concept of hypocracy as the reason for the problem? This new translation is not even close.

It does not describe the problem, the persons involved or the solution. Completely non-inspired crap that is not even in the ballpark.

The leader of the Anglican Church says Christians should stop openly criticizing homosexuals, out of concern for their lives

What Homosexuals Say About Homosexuals - Is This Gay Behavior Sick?

"Let´s look at gay behavior as defined by two gays, Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen Ph.D., authors of After the Ball: How America will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays in the 90´s (1989).

In Chapter Six, they outline “ten categories of misbehavior,” drawn from their own experiences, wide reading and thousands of hours of conversation with hundreds of other gays. Their contention is that the gay lifestyle, not gay sexuality mind you, “is the pits.” They want gays to improve their image by addressing “what is wrong with a lot of gays.” (276)

What follows are some highlights. As you read this, ask yourself if there is another human community, including the Mafia that could make these generalizations about itself. Ask yourself if we haven´t caught this disease, or at least the sniffles.

•  The authors say “a surprisingly high percentage” of pathological liars and con men are gay. This results from a natural habit of self-concealment, and leads to a stubborn self-deception about one´s own gayness and its implications.

•  They say gays tend to reject all forms of morality and value judgments. Gay morality boils down to “If it feels good, I´ll do it!” If a gay feels like seducing a trusted friend´s lover, he´ll do it, justifying it as an act of “sexual freedom” and the friend be damned.

•  They say gays suffer from a “narcissistic” personality disorder and they give this clinical description: “pathological self absorption, a need for constant attention and admiration, lack of empathy or concern for others, quickly bored, shallow, interested in fads, seductive, overemphasis on appearance, superficially charming, promiscuous, exploitative, preoccupied with remaining youthful, relationships alternate between over idealization and devaluation.”

•  As an example of this narcissism, the authors say “a very sizable proportion of gay men” who have been diagnosed HIV positive continue to have unprotected sex.

•  They say the majority of gays are extremely promiscuous and self-indulgent. They must continuously up the ante to achieve arousal. This begins with alcohol and drugs and includes such “forbidden” aspects of sex as wallowing in filth (fetishism and coprophilia) and sadomasochism, which involves violence.

•  They say many gays indulge in sex in public bathrooms and think it is antigay harassment when it is stopped. Many think they have a right to importune straight males, including children.

•  Many gays are “single minded sexual predators” fixated on youth and physical beauty alone. When it comes to the old or ugly, gays are “the real queerbashers.” Disillusioned themselves, they are cynical about love.

•  “Relationships between gay men don´t usually last very long.” They quickly tire of their partners and fall victim to temptation. The “cheating ratio of ‘married´ gay males, given enough time, approaches 100%.”

•  Even friendships are based on the sexual test and hard to sustain. Unattractive gay men find it nearly impossible to find a friend, let alone a lover.

•  The authors say gays tend to deny reality in various ways: wishful thinking, paranoia, illogic, emotionalism and embracing crackpot ideas.
