Reid is actually a decent guy. I think the Republicans will be able to work with him. He is not at all leftist and holds a few views that are compatible with Republican views. For example he is pro-life.
The Republicans have at least a 2-year window of opportunity to get some real work done.

I would amend that to essentially 18 months or less. What does not get done in CY-05 is essentially dead in the second term.
This country has essentially drifted into an almost constant campaign mode...and in the long-term, will cost us dearly.
Regrettably, only a crisis of the magnitude of 9/11 would modify that mode of governmental operation. And, IMO, that will happen.
