When (Dean -D) Logan took over the troubled elections office a year ago, he won praise from both political parties.
In the past two weeks, Logan and his office have been sued by the Republican and Democratic parties.
And state Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance has launched particularly harsh attacks. Vance has accused Logan of opening the door to possible voter fraud by allowing the Democratic Party to deliver signed affidavits from absentee and provisional voters, storing open boxes of blank ballots near boxes of completed ballots and failing to keep adequate track of all ballots.
"I'm not going to attack Dean Logan," Vance said. "But I do know he's a Democrat, and I do know that we've seen big problems, things we're not making up."
Members of the Metropolitan King County Council and the Elections Oversight Committee praise him for his openness and management skills.
He (later) worked as a lobbyist and campaign coordinator for the Washington State Labor Council.
Republican Party Chairman Vance has made much of the Democratic affiliations of Logan and his appointed elections superintendent, Bill Huennekens, accusing Sims of a history of appointing "political hacks" to count votes.
Logan also has taken heat over the discovery that King County had 10,000 more provisional votes to count than his office first estimated.
Others have complained about restrictions on where political-party observers could stand while workers validated provisional ballots. Logan said he restricted access to protect voters' privacy and avoid distracting workers.
"It's a constant battle with yourself not to take it personally, to stay focused on what you're doing," he said. "I think in the end it's going to work out fine."

Dan, you are a fool or dishonest or both. What has worked out fine? The "found" Dem votes in King county? The signature scam? The affidavits that were used to jack up the Dem votes?
Dean Logan is an example of the perfect liberal. He is able to convince himself that the ends justify the means even if the means are corrupt.
This process has been an embarrassment to WA state. D Logan maybe an honest, hardworking, civil servant but the very fact that he is a Dem reveals he is naive and open to manipulation to the Dem-Mafia.
Whenever you believe (teach) "everyone is a winner, the score doesn't count, feelings are more important than facts" you end up with a dysfunctional society that is easily preyed upon by the wolves. The wolves are still and howling in WA.

Do you think another recount will eliminate any of the fraud charges?
I heard (and have read John Fund's book about election fraud) that hand counts are much less accurate, are physically hard on the ballots, and present much more opportunity for fraud. "3 out of 3 ain't bad." /s

Since the majority of us are either Democrat or Republican,
chances are one of the two will be head of the elections office. I do believe that it is possible for the person in that position to be unbiased. Of course it takes an innate honesty and a total dedication to uphold the requirements for his or her office. This type of person is
not easy to find. Let us, here in Washington, hope that Mr. Logan is that type of person.
We just heard about this late this afternoon...and are getting geared up. Having the holiday will delay everything for a while, so I just don't know. I only hope our side has stamina and backbone - and damn fine lawyers.
In Detroit the Dems simply put blank ballots on the tables where they were counting. When the Republicans complained they were tossed out.

The Dems are not being smart about this, imo.
For one thing not every Dem in WA is a flaming Leftist. A good number are Scoop Jackson Dems. They are generally conservative and can be convinced to vote Rep if the right persuasion is offered. Many split their tickets between Kerry & Rossi. The Dems run a risk of disillusioning these people the way Zell was disillusioned when he saw how his party operates in D.C., the same way a number of Florida residents came out decisively for Bush after the fiasco the Dems caused in 2000.
People like Rossi. They can't demonize him the way they can other Republicans.
I do realize as Governor Rossi is threatening to upset the Liberal status quo. Fire some of their favorite people in Gov., will be an impediment to some of their policy. I understand a popular Republican could have the side affect of rebuilding our state party to be competitive. Clearly Rossi could be a threat to the WA Dems that they haven't had in my lifetime, provided expectations meet reality.
I also understand the Dems have a 54 minority in Congress, aided by Jeffords & a few turncoats which still leaves them narrowly in minority. If they steal this election, Rossi becomes our candidate for '06 against Cantwell. Cantwell is not the lock Murray was, and Rossi has crossover party appeal. Someone higher up in the party needs to use their brain and realize that whatever positives Rossi could bring Republicans in state politics, he could bring even more advantages as a U.S. Senator from a "Blue state".
Do I understand correctly that they are going to keep "recounting" until the scumbag Democrats win?
Meanwhile the cable networks flirt with conspiracy theories in Florida and Ohio.
Have they found any Democrat party hacks driving around with voting machines in the trunks of their cars yet, like that clown in Florida in 2000?
