Actually...being a former crewmember of an M1A1 Abrams...these tanks are not invulnerable. Granted the armor in the front of the chasis, the front of the turret and the first skirts are bretty much jihad-proof, the top of the turret around the hatches, the remaining skirts, the side armor, and especially the rear exhaust are not. The tank is designed to take hits, and we had at least one come back from GW I with a sabot round sticking out of the turret...but a direct hit with a TOW, SAGGER, or a top-hat type weapon system to one of the more vulnerable areas can be devestating.

"Abrams Tank not being invicible".I do not know about that other thread, but those tanks can be destroyed. The image above was posted on Yahoo yesterday as I saw it there. The image below was taken last year I believe. I forget the month. Initially it was a classified photo, but then it as well as some others began to pop up on Pravda and elsewhere. A very big IED caused this damage.

It wasn't so much the fact that the troll was saying that the Abrams tank wasn't invincible, but the fact that he was boasting that it was a Russian-made RPG-7 that took the tank out.

The M1 is still the most survivable vehicle we have.No question. But, the brass's decision to relegate heavy armor into the ash-heap of history makes more sense when you understand the power of railguns (and the nearness of their deployment).

What do you mean no details known:
Abrams tank destroyed, 4 American swines erased in Abu Ghurayb Saturday. 4 US bastards were erased when their Abrams tank was destroyed on the highway in Abu Ghurayb west of Baghdad by Resistance fighters firing a C5K rocket launcher.
