The stars came out Monday night to honor Fox New Channel ace reporter Rita Cosby for the work she's done for Alzheimer's research at a gala benefit held at the Time Warner Center in New York City.
The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation held its Alzheimer's Awareness Month event at the Center's Jean Georges' V-Steak House and the Stone Rose, where Cosby was feted for her 40th birthday.
The top shelf guest list included former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Soprano's star Lorraine Bracco, former astrounaut Buzz Aldrin, Geraldo Rivera, former heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield, singer Michael Bolton, and O.J star witness Kato Kaelin, among others. "I'm going to dedicate my 40th birthday to a landmark cause," the Emmy Award winning newswoman told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley. "We're hoping to raise millions of dollars for Alzheimer's research."
The event featured a gala auction where prizes included a private tour of President Reagan's Santa Barbara ranch conducted by his son, radio host Michael Reagan.
"This is a cause near and dear to Michael," Cosby said, noting that his father died from Alzheimer's in June.
The host of "The Big Story Weekend Edition," Cosby has made her mark in broadcast journalism with stories that range from high profile criminal cases to interviews with world leaders.
In 2002, Cosby interviewed Yassir Arafat when his Ramallah compound was under seige by the Israeli Defense Force. That same year, she uncovered a secret meeting between the Saudi royal family and ex-president Clinton, a development that had the Bush White House fuming.
In 2001, Cosby obtained an exclusive death row interview with Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, during which he made a chilling reference to Osama bin Laden - five months before the 9/11 attacks.
Those "damn glasses" actually look great on her.
"No! Replace her with Dari Alexander, but I do wish she would get rid of those damn glasses. She is hot and smart too."
I kind of dig the glasses, kind of a "naughty librarian" look.
DITTO's to that. Is it me or is she looking better and better? I notice a lot of very cute facial expressions lately, she is PURE FOX, no doubt about it.
A female Geraldo if I ever saw one.
You should have seen the lovely Miss Dhue on Fox and Friends this past Saturday. Juliet Huddy and Her Dhueness were demonstrating exercise techniques.
Hmmmmmmmmm I never thought of it that way, okay she can keep the glasses. :)
Perzackly why I think she looks great in 'em. :)
Librarian fantasies? Hmm...who'd a thought?
WOW sorry I missed that! Unfortunately Fox and FRiends is on in the middle of the night here on the left coast, although if I had known I just might have set the alarm clock.
I agree. She just looks and acts like a news whore, eager to say or do anything to get an "Exclusive" and, if that's not possible, to manufacture the news. Definitely not one of Fox's attractions
I gotta admit, Rita has been looking pretty good these past few saturday nights.
NO fan of Crosby. Bores me to tears after 3 seconds...The voice doesn't help -- someone get the woman a Sucrets.
Gee...sounds like I listen to her too much at that!
It depends on what she is talking about. If her subject is the Peterson murder, or any other celibrity, then I change the channel too. She did some very nice reports though on our military
Doug - Didn't you organize a "discussion" with Jayna Davis some months ago where we talked about her excellent book The Third Terrorist?
Who can we ask about Rita Cosby's interview with Timothy McVeigh which is characterized this way:
In 2001, Cosby obtained an exclusive death row interview with Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, during which he made a chilling reference to Osama bin Laden - five months before the 9/11 attacks.
I don't think so. Do a imgage search in google. Her lips are full
FYI...found this.
McVeigh Cites Osama Bin Laden in Letter to Fox News
Friday, April 27, 2001 1:41 a.m. EDT
A month after a former NBC News reporter went public with evidence of links between Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh and Middle Eastern terrorist Osama bin Laden, McVeigh himself has cited bin Laden in a letter to the Fox News Channel.
Responding to questions from FNC's Rita Cosby, McVeigh rejected some of the labels that have been applied to him, then tossed in the chilling reference to the notorious Muslim terrorist.
"Most of the insults are meritless and quite often absurd, so I don't pay them much attention," wrote McVeigh. "Hitler? Absurd. (Geraldo Rivera uses this same analogy, so Keating and Ashcroft are in good company!) Coward? This label would make Orwell proud it is double think at its finest. Collateral Damage? As an American news junkie; a military man; and a Gulf War veteran, where do they think I learned that? (It sure as hell wasn't Osama Bin Laden!)"
In the next sentence, McVeigh mentioned convicted World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef, in perhaps another indication of a Middle Eastern connection to his own crime.
"For all else, I would refer you to my enclosed paper 'Hypocrisy,' and to Ramzi Yousef's statement to the court just prior to his sentencing. I filter all labels and insults thusly."
In the Jan. 8, 1998, court statement to which McVeigh referred, Yousef proclaimed, "Yes, I am a terrorist and proud of it as long as it is against the U.S. government," before being sentenced to 240 years in jail.
Last month former NBC reporter Jayna Davis told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly that compelling evidence links McVeigh to a Middle Eastern terrorist cell ultimately controlled by bin Laden.
Did any of her sources show up?
Thank you very much!
"Do the Dhue"...amen to you as well!
He's sort of Hollywood's two-legged house pet that gets passed around from household to household. He's been described as a "professional house guest" -- one wonders if there are more like him, a kind of "floaterati".
French society used to have a ton of Kato Kaelins living at Versailles. The Bourbon kings built Versailles as a way of making sure the nobility of France were within easy reach. A way of keeping an eye on them. Which came in handy for the French revolutionaries, too -- they knew where to go to find everybody.
