Urgent: How Do We Stop Kofi Annan'S Tutle Bay Land Grab?
New York Post ^ | November 19, 2004

Expand the United Nations? In New York?

Ha!

The Post's Ken Lovett reported yesterday that Albany was planning to give the United Nations an early Christmas present — a chunk of the East Side for an expansion.

Sunshine being the best disinfectant, Lovett's story caused the state Senate to put the brakes on.

For the time being, anyway.

Under terms of the deal, the United Nations was to take what is now the Robert Moses playground for renovation and expansion of its Turtle Bay complex.

The bill would have allowed U.N. officials to begin environmental and land-use studies preparatory to the takeover.

Manhattan Democrat Steven Sanders took time off from his usual duties — looking out for the United Federation of Teachers — to sponsor the scheme in the Assembly; Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno was responsible for it in the Senate.

Moreover, the Bloomberg administration strongly backs the plan.

Which makes us wonder:

What are those people thinking?

New Yorkers give up prime real estate — a park! — to accommodate an institution whose membership virtually without exception doesn't even try to disguise its contempt for the United States?

Which has thrown every possible obstacle into the way of the liberation of Iraq; which institutionally despises Israel; which ignored Rwanda and Bosnia and now abets genocide in Sudan, and which is up to its greedy armpits in the $21-billion-plus Oil-For-Food ripoff?

I had missed this editorial by the NY Post on the UN deal almost approved by the NYS Senate. Happily, Senator Golden, mentioned in the editorial, got the bill pulled.

The MSM is ignoring this story--probably figuring that Pataki, Bloomberg, the unions, and their boy Kofi will make it go. How do we focus more protest on this?

The UN needs to move to Ramalah or to some prime beachfront property on the Dead Sea.

Sprinkle a few snail darters, garlend snakes and hairless voles around....tie them up in endangered species assessments for years.

Remember the EPA guy that pasted hairs of a wolf/wild cat (or somesuch) so that thousands of acres were "protected" for the animals.....all a big fake....wonder if he has any spare hairs.

We need to be working on ways to give LESS of our country, in particular NY City real estate, to the UN.

bump

Get this band of thieves out of the U.S. Then we'll fund appropriately... hopefully zero. Only country to country agreements. We don't need outside Communists, anarchists or anti-Western Civilisation busy-bodies to rule over us or our soldiers.
