I think the effort has put the Senate Republicans on notice and they in turn have Specter much more a partner than he would be as a pouting non chairman..The dems will,of course, do all the obstructing they can.
Hope you're right, but have my doubts. Above all else, the Senate is a "very exclusive club", and they, above all else, protect each other. The "elites" always do. What this episode has demonstrated is just how impotent "we the people" really are. Another example of "we the people" not having power is the very dangerous illegal immigration problem. The vast majority of Americans want the southern border protected, and the politicians now this, but continue to ignore the will of the people. We will pay dearly!
