The Washington Times ^ | November 18, 2004 | Bill Gertz

The French bank that handled funds for the U.N. oil-for-food program in Iraq made tens of millions of dollars in fees and did not properly monitor transactions involving Saddam Hussein's oil sales, congressional investigators said yesterday.

Why this isn't the biggest story in the news is beyond me. Why the Bush administration is not looking to hang Kofi Annan, Jacque Chirac, the Germans and the Russians with this is equally beyond me.
But no, the worm Chirac walks around criticizing the behavior of his betters. Why?

The good thing about this is that the US Govt. holds the power to revoke BNP's ability to conduct business in the US - they can force BNP to close all it's offices and vacate the US, which would be a MAJOR blow. Use of this hammer over BNP may help yield info that France and the UN don't want disclosed. ;)

Oddly, we have that power over the UN. If only we used it.

WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

Are you SERIOUSLY still expecting one single solitary thing from the LM? Don't you remember Rathergate? Don't you remember the October surprise of missing plastic explosive, or the phony exit polls in the morning? Forgot about Larry O'Donnel already? You can't possibly have forgotten about Ted Koppel badgering O'Neill because John would NOT say the words that 'journalist' Koppel wanted to put in his mouth. Have you forgotten Jennings and Brokaw defending Rather and his behavior?

I just don't understand. People at FR have GOT to get over this thing they still have with legacy media. These guys are just increasingly irrelevant. The oil-for-food scandal IS a BIG DEAL to everyone else, here, on various weblogs, anywhere but the LM. It's a new world.
