SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) - The United States has intelligence indicating Iran is trying to fit missiles to carry nuclear weapons,
U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell said.
Powell partially confirmed claims by an Iranian opposition group that Tehran is deceiving the United Nations and is attempting to secretly continue activities meant to give it atomic arms by next year.
``I have seen intelligence which would corroborate what this dissident group is saying,'' Powell told reporters Wednesday as he traveled to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Santiago. ``And it should be of concern to all parties.''

the endorsement of statements recently posted by the Iranian resistance group that was listed as a terrorist organization is interesting especially coming from Powell, who has already resigned and could have easily avoided making this statement unless he really believes it. This information does not come from the CIA, but you have to wonder how it has been verified.

They needn't make the changes-their allies in China & Pakistan have already done it for them/given the technology for it.

A senior official for the National Council for Resistance in Iran said... Banned in the United States as a terrorist organization, the group... Are we relying on terrorists for intelligence information?
To: ordinaryguy
Are we relying on terrorists for intelligence information?
and that is the point. is our intelligence organization so disfunctional that we are relying on the postings on the web from organizations our government has previously listed as terrorists? and finally, why is Powell citing this source. He has been vilified for his speech at the UN before the Iraq war which was based on unverified information from now discreditied sources. i posted this article because i am hoping to get some help understanding what is going on in Iran. Do they have nuclear weapons developed from materials they got from Pakistan? Are they developing their own abilities to enrich uranium to weapons-grade while presenting the appearance of negotiating an end to their efforts? How can we make any sense of all of this conflicting information?

It is my feeling that Powell and his people have kept the pressure on Israel to not bomb these plants. I hope Condi lets them go and do what is in their national interest along with ours.

I am so new to this FR the milk has not dried behind my ears. However, I do have a thought which may displease some readers (so be it)! We have always been a country at peace until pushed, shoved, or badgered into confrontational war. I don't like war. If it is brought to our shores then lets win it..... "full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes". My thoughts are to make a marble out of Tehran or any other city that has proved itself to be in a terrorist encampment. Give the people who are not participants, time to get out, then make a marble out of that city. Repeat as necessary. If the people who are responsible for developing nuclear weapons to be used in terrorist activities, or a holy war, or saber rattling, or for any other unreasonable means of destroying humanity, then I think we should provide the means for a rapid transit to see Allah, or other entity they profess to believe in. They can die as martyrs and be forever peaceful in their own little kingdom. Yep, this is radical. And out of order. However, this forum has stated (I read this somewhere while browsing)it believes in freedom of speech. I do to. So, apologies to those who are offended by my rantings. I felt the need to express some thought on this subject. I am certainly glad and happy that Mr. Jim has the reproductive organs to let others express their thoughts. If this deserves a swift boot to my posterior, and removal from this forum, then start kicking and removing. Been there and done that.

This is what we call a win-win situation.
Either way, the world is a better place. It would definitely give terrorists something to think about.

You are not the only one to advocate preemptive strikes before the enemy can bring nukes to our country.

Time to bomb Iran. Make them come fight over in Iraq since they're already there. Take out the mullahs.
