You know what you're dealing with when you read, "offers the truly conservative person a voice and a choice."

Carville conservatives.

Heaven forbid that an American political party place America's interests and priorities ahead of Israel's.

Why don't you move to Canada with the rest of the secularist Fundamentalist haters?

oh boy. The Clintonistas I'm sure will give this group aggressive support in an effort to create a spoiler for the '08 campaign.

I know Mr. Warner. He's one of the good guys, actually.

The Mountain State needs another conservative party right now like they need KKK Byrd to live another hundred years.

Great strides have been made in the last couple of years towards ending the corrupt 70-year one-party rule of the Democrats, and to build a new Republican Party from the bottom up.

There is plenty of opportunity right now for any conservative to work within the WV GOP.

Sorry, but I'm not.

Founding Fathers... who were primarily enlightenment/Freemason/deist types

This article may shed some light (or further the debate, as the case may be!), although I think its conclusions about deism are overly simplistic.

Were Our Founding Father's Deists?
Our Godly Heritage Russell Boates

Historians today assert that our Founding Fathers were “deists” and intended America to be a secular nation. What is a “deist”? According to David Barton in his great book Original Intent, “…a ‘deist’ embraces the ‘clockmaker theory’ that there was a God who made the universe and wound it up like a clock; however, it now runs of its own volition; the clockmaker is gone and therefore does not respond to man.”

There were approximately 240 Founding Fathers consisting of the creators and signers of the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, plus heroes of the Revolution, as well as the first Cabinet and Supreme Court Justices. From speeches, letters, volumes of writings, accomplishments, and testimonials from friends, we know that 95% of these men were very devoted Christians. Most of the state Constitutions written after the war by these men, required that all state officials fear God. For example the Massachusetts Constitution, 1780, chapter VI, article I reads, “All persons elected to State office or to the Legislature must make and subscribe the following declaration, viz. ‘I,_______, believe the Christian religion, and have firm persuasion of its truth.’” The Fathers wanted officials who believed God would hold them accountable for their actions. They were hardly deists.

Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson have been labeled “deists”. Jefferson argued that he was a “disciple of Jesus Christ” but denied Christ’s deity. These men don’t seem to have been Christians but they both feared God. For example in a speech to Congress Franklin said, “… God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? We have been assured, in the Sacred Writings, that ‘except the Lord build the House, they labor in vain that build it.’ I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without His concurring aid we shall succeed in this political building no better than the builders of Babel …I therefore (request) – that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven, and its blessing on our deliberations, be held in this Assembly every morning…”.

Before I quote one of Jefferson’s statements that is carved on the Jefferson Memorial let me ask you, “Do you think that God created us and then moved on, not caring what we do in America? Are you a deist?” Before you answer, consider: if you think that God ignored our government removing the Bible and prayer from our schools and replacing them with immoral “sex education” and condom distribution, you are a deist; if you think God ignored America officially allowing the premeditated murder of over 40,000,000 pre-born babies since 1973, you are a deist (God decides when life begins not our government!); if you think God is ignoring America’s rapid descent into the cesspool of immoral perversion, you are a deist and God owes Sodom and Gomorrah an apology. OK, answer the question.

Hear Jefferson’s words, “God who gave us life gave us liberty, and can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are of the Gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that His justice cannot sleep forever.” No deist here!

Our Founding Fathers were not deists, but America acts like a deist nation today! If we believed God will judge America for her immoral atrocities, we would “tremble for our county!” — What are you doing?

I wonder how many people who use the term "RINO" also advocate a third party.

West Virginia needs to worry about finding Republican candidates for Senator who can replace Byrd and Rockefeller. Nice Senators the 'Rats have in West Virginia -- one is a Klansman, the other the great-grandson of a very wealthy businessman! That must make the pro-black, pro-union bloc in the 'Rat Party very proud!

Get two Republican Senators to replace Bobby and Johnny, and that will do more for Conservatism than any hopeless third party.

So let's see.

West Virginia has a pro-life Democrat governor.

They have a small but growing Republican Party as their more conservative option.

And these morons think that what the state is clamoring for is a more conservative party?

Give me a break. The CP is rapidly outstripping the Libertarians in the Stupid column.

This is all about blocking & tackling. Did you see the way the Dems systematically blocked Nader's ballot access in the swing states? Seeking to reduce the choice to simply Bush vs. anti-Bush (Kerry)? The Republicans, if they are worthy of governing, must be willing to do the same in WVa.

The Constitution Party advocates a smaller, less intrusive federal government that operates within the strict framework of the U.S. Constitution and "its foundation in Biblical law."

Another collection of electoral circus clowns.

I don't agree that the Republican Party is the epitome of conservatism, in fact it has moved left big time. I do agree that it's easier, at this point, for conservatives to attempt to hold the GOP's feet to the fire than to launch a new third party.

I think it was hypocritical of the man to claim that the two parties have served the nation well during the past 200 years.

But the people who run the party are still old-school anti-Jewish pre-World War II rightwing types.

As are most of their defenders.

Most interesting. If they can work with the Republican Party in a coalition format, and not sabotage the Republicans at election time, it will be an effective voice.

Well, we need to cut them a little slack. First, the ZOG President gets re-elected over Charley Reese's boy, then the man they were counting on to save the world from "Jewish Communism" (Arafat) up and dies of AIDS.

The really good news (or bad news, for them) is that inevitably grass roots Fundamentalists and conservatives will take over that party. Not only are the old Carto/Yockey/Maguire generation dying out, but pro-Israel Fundamentalists outnumber the anti-Israel "conservatives" so much that it isn't even funny.

Sorry, Gary North. (Not really, but you know what I mean!)

Well, the two-party setup has worked pretty darned well. Far from perfectly, but well.

Of course, the Democrat Party is hardly what it once was.

If either of the Parties needs to be replaced, in this two-party setup, it is the Dem Party. They're overwhelmingly stone-cold Socialists now.

I will be staying in the GOP as long as A) the Party stays pro-life and pro-liberty B) The Party's nominees for President and Vice-President are pro-life and pro-liberty, and C) The majority of Republicans are pro-life and pro-liberty.
