Not unless honest conservatives allow them to be successful.

Absolutely a case of arrested development.

I don't want the U.S. intervening and forcing Israel to talk to and make peace with Arafats.

The only way the U.S. can "force" Israel to do anything is by threatening to withdraw foreign aid -- which Israel shouldn't be receiving anyway.

I'd love to leave Israel alone -- I only wish they'd leave us alone and stop lobbying for ever more money.

BTW, Israel can easily afford it's own defense, but it's a socialist welfare state with national health care and practically free university education (I'd heard several years ago that college tuition is about $1000 a year). Plus, a large portion of their religious population is on permanent welfare so they can study Torah and pray full time.

If they US withdrew foreign aid, Israel would shut down its socialist subsidies and divert that money to its defense. But hey, why give up socialism when America will subsidize it for you?

We pay for Israel's socialism -- where is the "conservative" outrage? Many American "conservatives" go ballistic over any subsidy to fellow American workers, spouting off about "RATS" and "losers" and "commies" -- yet they have no trouble paying for Israel's socialist welfare state. I'm opposed to all socialism, but if I have to choose, I'd rather our tax dollars go to fellow Americans than to any foreigner.

I don't see how the CP or the LP (my party) is anti-Israel simply because they are consistently opposed to socialism. That is, opposed to redistributing money both to other Americans and to foreigners.

I have no problem with conservatives voluntarily supporting Israel, so long as they oppose foreign aid to Israel with the same vigor they devote to opposing other socialist endeavors.

Yes, let's not use our foreign aid to pressure Israel into doing anything. Let's just cut it off all aid irrespective of what Israel does, and let it and the Arabs go their own way. As we should let Chad, Bangladesh, Gabon, France, Chile, and every other nation on Earth go their own way, with no subsidy from us.

Ending all aid to Israel is no more "anti-Israel" than ending all aid to Chad or Jordan or whoever is anti-Chad or anti-Jordan.
