It occured to me that if you accept the premise that the forces pushing party direction reside on the Internet - via political sites, fundraising channels, organization mechanisms, blogs, columnists, etc - then the democrat party will contine to be chained to the radiator.
With no objective analysis undertaken whatsoever and a strong conservative bias it seems clear to me that the leading Internet forces for the democrats are far left of center. The operate the Red Meat Buffet, open 24-hours a day, serving anger, elitism and other slimy dishes that have greased the skids for the Great 40 Year Democrat Slide.
Deeply rooted in liberal Meccas including NYC, San Fran, Chicago and Boston, these forces include MoveOn.org, DU, various 527's, The Note, blogs by the likes of Streisand and Michael Moore and so on. I rarely read any of them but when I do instead of finding practical analysis or introspective relfection I find emotional pap and the usual rantings.
On the other hand, if you browse leading conservative Internet forces, which hardly need to be listed here, you tend to find the kind of debate which furthers the party. People here believe, as I do, that conservatism vs. liberalism can in one way be boiled down to logic vs. emotion and it's therefore hardly surprising that our respective parties' leading Internet forces reflect this tone.
But strictly politically speaking, the democrats are in a turnip truck full of trouble because their front-line leaders on the virtual battlefield are the exact types who guided them to the electoral wilderness.
Decentralized and hard to control, these are the leaders of the Donner Party. They will soon be lost and eating one another, many in California, ironically.
I'll do my bit to help.
Yes, but they can up and feeze Michael Moore and live off him alone for years!:)
"Donner, party of 10...uh, 9...uh, party of...8......
BRILLIANT ANALOGY!!!!!!! The Donner Party, lost in the wilderness and eating one another. LOL LOL
Ooh, that's funny, Crip!
ROFLMPO!!
"You guys want bread with that?"
Shhh!! Don't give them any clues!!
Amazingly, the Donner Party took much the same route as the Democrat Party.
From the heartland (Independence Missouri) to California.
Nah, too much gristle for any nutrition
I agree. I have no idea how they can keep their moderates and far lefties together.
