Yes, an excellent book, but extremely depressing. My heart goes out to her family.

I've also read it. It reminded me so much of stories old people would tell about the Japanese occupation when I was stationed in Korea and the Phillippines back in the early 80s. I thought, no one has written about this since the 1950s - it's about time.
