Old news, but relevant because it illustrates the trustworthiness, or lack thereof, of Senator Specter. Supposedly pro-gun, he absented himself and refused to grant a proxy vote to the other Republicans with a key vote coming up.

BATF went on to establish its own definition of "assault rifles" based on criteria that include: military appearance I.e. a gun is eeeeeevil when it looks eeeeeeevil?

I know Leahy has firmly joined the anti-camp since then.
Specter voted for either Brady or the first AWB. I'm not sure which. He's been solid on the last few votes which was in an election year, as well as the 2000 gun show ban. He can't always be counted on though.

Something else to remember, is that Dennis DeConcini was one of the "Keating Five." As was John McCain.
