Grew up in Oklahoma. Knew the whole tornado warning routine. It almost, not quite, makes me homesick.
I hope all are safe and it blows over without damage.
P.S. Tornados are so rare in TN that most people don't know how to get to safety.

It feels almost like spring instead of fall! I am still harvesting peppers!

Thanks for the ping. We're 90+ miles north & it's too cool for tornado formation...at least right now. We've been dealing with this lousy cold rain most of the day. Heads up to all OKC FReepers...stay safe.

I'll say! I wonder what the weather patterns were those years? It has been a mild summer and a warm fall here...

I don't know where you live in Tenn.,but here in the west we get them pretty often. Two years ago we had a killer tornado in Covington.

"Very unusual."
Any time of the year for us. January is more rare, but the people around Caldwell & Jacksonville can tell you more about that.

Oklahoma (F3) I remember that bunch. I was stationed at Tinker AFB, starting in June of '73. All those twisters, and no basement to retreat to. :) IIRC, the first tornado of the next year was in January or February.

Isn't this a little late for tornadoes? I don't think it's ever too late, or too early, for tornadoes in Oklahoma. :)

We are out of the shelter now...it was on the other side of Edmond from where we are. Stay low everyone.

Here in northern Stephens County we're under a severe thunderstorm warning until 10:00 pm. Haven't had any rain yet and it's rather chilly outside as the sun goes down.

***Isn't this a little late for tornadoes?**
It's never too late for tornados in OK. I remember one hit Tulsa on Dec 5, 1975.
It scared the wife and put the fright into some of my NM friends who were visiting. They had NEVER been under a tornado watch or warning before.
To: Ruy Dias de Bivar; Overtaxed
I had a friend this past spring sleep right THROUGH the sirens going off down the street while my husband and I sat anxiously watching the news in the middle of the night! LOL
