Better than Racicot. I don't know where Gonzalez stands on abortion, gay marriage, or stem cell harvesting, but I have heard that Racicot is "pro-choice" and not very socially conservative.

I would doubt that Racicot is anything but pro-life.
Why? Because he was doing Catholic outreach for the RNC, and I don't think they would put him in that role if he were not pro-life.

But who knows?

Here's some background from a couple of years ago:

How 'bout the Second Amnendment? Does he support the individual right (i.e. CORRECT) interpretation of the Second Amendment? Will he act on it?

I didn't like many of his rulings on the Texas SC. But if President Bush believes in him...and believes he'll continue where Ashcroft left off...I support him!!!

I highly doubt Racicot is pro-abort. It may not be an issue he talks about a great deal, but given what I know about him, I'd wager he comes down on the pro-life side.

I've met Racicot. He's young and hip and a little bit taken with himself and being in the circles of power, and doesn't have time for little people. He is not what you would call a powerful moral force.

I think Racicot is a RILOM on abortion, but I agree Gonzales is a better choice.

Didn't Gonzalez rule that a law was unconstituional because of Roe? I mean, we need an AG who is an advocate for the unborn, not an advocate for the SC.

Racicot has the stench of Enron lingering about him.

Here in Montana, they just elected a wild eyed democrat governor as a payback for the Montana Power / Telecom USA / Bob Gannon scandal that had republican / Racicot fingerprints all over it.

I don't know where Gonzalez stands on abortion...

While on the Texas Supreme Court, he wrote a decision allowing minor girls to get abortions without parental notification. That's about all I can remember about him off-hand, but I don't think he would be considered strongly pro-life...

Racicot is pro-life; Gonzales is probably not. I interpret Gonzales' nomination to be Attorney General as a sign that Bush will not nominate him to be a Supreme Court Justice.
