Good choice. I thought Mr. Gonzolez was slated for SCOTUS.
That leaves Ted Olsen as a Supreme maybe?
Olsen would be an incredible choice! He is white and male, though. This might hurt his chances with Bush. :(
Doesn't he have a rather large paper trail following him
around? Might be something there the dems could latch onto.
NO! He'd be the oldest justice at the time of confirmation of anyone on the court-- by 5 YEARS!
THOMAS, 43 (stay healthy!)
REHNQUIST, 48 (Thank you, Dick Nixon!)
SCALIA, 50
O'CONNOR, 51
SOUTER, 51
KENNEDY, 52
STEVENS, 55
BREYER, 56
GINSBURG, 60
OLSEN, 65
Only 40 year-olds need apply as far as I'm concerned. Hell, find some 35 year-old conservative with a family history of centenarians.
Olsen, or Miguel Estrada will be nominated again.
Imagine. A man whose wife was murdered on 9/11 sitting on the Supreme Court. There'd be a much needed reality check for the Justice O'Conner, Justice Kennedy, "We have to consider international law" and their ilk.
Its the US Constitution stupid.
Yessssssssssss! Ted Olsen. Dedicated to Barbara whom we all still miss terribly.
This is good news. There is reason to believe that Gonzalez might be less than a conservative and thus a risk on the Supreme Court.
