Belushi Sues Neighbor Julie Newmar

Actor James Belushi has sued next-door neighbor Julie Newmar for $4 million in damages, accusing the actress of a "campaign of harassment" designed to drive him from his home. Belushi, 50, claims in the lawsuit filed Nov. 2 that Newmar destroyed a fence and landscaping at the home in the posh Brentwood neighborhood and repeatedly made defamatory statements about him to neighbors and friends.

The lawsuit also claims that Newmar spied on Belushi's family from her residence and caused a nuisance by playing loud music directed at his backyard.

"Newmar has engaged in a malicious and premeditated campaign to prevent and destroy Belushi's quiet peace," the lawsuit claims.

Newmar had an unlisted telephone number and could not immediately be reached for comment.

Belushi says the actions of the actress who played Catwoman in the 1960s television series "Batman" caused emotional distress and harmed his reputation and career.

Besides $4 million in damages, Belushi is seeking an injunction against the actress and attorneys' fees.

I think he said he's a democrat. But he supported Arnold for Governor. I think wherever John Belushi is, he's getting a good laugh out of this. Jim

How old is she? I wonder if she's getting loopy in her later years.

I've never understood why Jim Belushi is even famous.

Lots of people have famous dead brothers, but I don't have to see them on my television all the time.

And I'm assuming Julie Newmar hit the wall sometime around 1976.

Actor Jim Belushi sent $500 from Martha’s Vineyard to Howard Dean, presumably before the Vermont governor’s "I Have a Scream" speech, while Corretta Scott King mailed $100 to John Kerry from Atlanta.

I saw Belushi in a pro-Kerry commercial regarding how Kerry is better suited to handle Kosovo, of all things. Apparently Bush wants to take US troops out of there, which frankly I'm fine with. I must admit I was surprised because I also thought Belushi was a Republican for some reason.

How ironic......Belushi's last movie before his death was "Neighbors", with Akroyd and Kathryn Moriarty. A very good story IMHO. A similar situation his little brother is experiencing right now.

I remember as a little kid feeling strangely effected by "Catwoman". I really couldn't understand the charicter at the time but for some reason watched her with piqued interest.

Hey, good point. I heard Louie, Louie on the radio today and of course thought of Animal House. I think my favorite skit on the old SNL was when Belushi wins a race and does the cereal commercial for donuts. Jim
