Answering Kerry (Cavuto of Fox News tells Democrats: 'I say, go ahead. Boycott me')
Wash Post ^ | 11/8/04 | Howard Kurtz

Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto is showing no remorse for an on-air crack about Osama bin Laden wearing a Kerry button that infuriated John Kerry's campaign.

Cavuto told viewers last week that his "thin-skinned" and "humorless critics seem to have selective memory." Recalling all the Democrats he's had on his show, Cavuto dismissed "threats from Democrats who now say they will boycott my show. I say, go ahead. Boycott me. Fair and balanced, I'll continue to invite you, and I'll let my viewers know when you decline -- each and every time you do."

I think this Bush victory is going to give a lot of conservatives the spine to talk to the Dems and Liberals like the minoirty party they are.

Oh, no! A liberal boycott of his show. Damn, I wonder what the loss of those three viewers will do to his ratings?

As for me, I thought I heard a faint voice at the end of 'Sami's videotape saying, "I'm John Kerry and I approved this message"...

As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if he has any dems or libs on his show. Their absence would only improve his show.

the thing i love about Neil Cavuto is it didn't take a Bush victory for him to display that he has a spine... the guy tells it like it is... he's one of my two faves on Fox News...

Truth be told this is probably a good thing for him. As soon as O'Reilly's troubles hit the air his ratings jumped up.

It's not just the victory, it's how the media establishment completely discredited itself. And why should anybody be afraid of CBS or NYT anymore? They pulled out all stops and lost.

... an on-air crack about Osama bin Laden wearing a Kerry button that infuriated John Kerry's campaign...about as insulting as the yead signs which were all over saying that "Somewhere in Texas a village is missing its idiot" - they can dish it out, but they sure can't take it......

"I think this Bush victory is going to give a lot of conservatives the spine to talk to the Dems and Liberals like the minoirty party they are."

I hope so. . .of course, Cavuto's spine is straighter than most; he made the Kerry comment, before he knew GW would win.

The Dems are determined to remind people just how stupid; myopic; and intolerant they are when it comes, to even the smallest measure, of what they heap on their opponents, everyday, comes back at them.

I remember Cavuto tearing a Democrat Represenative to shreds on his show about the Bush tax cut. I've loved him ever since.

Sure, a few hundred thousand votes in key precincts and kerry might have won the election. But he didn't get them. AND we knocked out several Democrat senators. AND we increased our lead in the house.

Most important, the MSM got in bed with kerry on this one. They hammered on Bush all year long. They never gave him the benefit of the doubt. They ignored the President's major speeches, and they ignored all kerry's negatives. They wrote off the testimony of hundreds of veterans as if it was the doubtful word of a single liar.

Without this huge and shameless bias on the part of the media Bush would have won by 15% or more. He did the impossible. He got the word out over the heads of a lying, obstructing, pimping press corps who never gave him a photo op or a constructive headline.

That's quite an accomplishment.

True, he made the Kerry comments before W won, but his comments after the whining is what I'm talking about.

"threats from Democrats who now say they will boycott my show. I say, go ahead. Boycott me. Fair and balanced, I'll continue to invite you, and I'll let my viewers know when you decline -- each and every time you do."

Nice little threat implied there.

I really love all of you Texas boys. We all seem to have it fairly well figured out. We seem to be well represented on Free Republic. Thanks.

Actually, I hope they do boycott .. At least there would be one show on TV I could watch without having to hit the mute button all the time. I'm sick of their smarmy comments and their hate-Bush stuff.

LOL!! I hope they do boycott - the show will sure be more enjoyable. Think I'll send Neal a little note.

Cavuto is about the only "fair and balanced" on that channel. The rest seem to have followed the Murdoch line.

He made it to the top by using Conservative leanings. He can lose it, too. The internet isn't dependent on Fox and comes through a lot faster. The Election day debacle won't easily be forgotten here.
