BEIRUT, Lebanon (AP) -- Prominent Saudi religious scholars urged Iraqis to support militants waging holy war against the U.S.-led coalition forces as American troops prepared Saturday for a major assault on the insurgent hotbed of Fallujah.
The 26 Saudi scholars and preachers said in an open letter to the Iraqi people that their appeal was prompted by "the extraordinary situation through which the Iraqis are passing which calls for unity and exchange of views." The letter was posted on the Internet.

Labeling their call for carnage a 'holy' war, they wrap themselves in a religious banner that also encourages - scratch that - demands - husbands beat their wives at least once a week.
These 'holy' men also approve of the murder of Iraqi men who are muslim, because they are seeking to bring order to their country as Iraqi soldiers and Iraqi police officers.
Treating Iraqi women as slaves, and religiously beating them on a weekly basis is not what Iraqi men are about right now.
Iraq is determined to bring its country into a civilized twenty-first century, where ideally men and women are equally responsible for the decisions of government.
It is this long term goal that is a direct threat to the iron-fist control these pitiful 'holy' clerics and scholars have wrongly wielded for centuries.
find them.
arrest them.
try them.
hang them.

hmm...since our military is already over there, why not just clean out the whole area before leaving. Why not free the people of Saudi Arabia, too?
I wonder if there are any proponents of the religion of peace who really want peace at all? From what I can see, they are killing people all over the world. I say get them all!

They are what they write.....enemy combatants doing what they can to bring harm to a military force attempting to work with Iraqi men and women to rid themselves of a despotic and sexist dictatorial system.
Has anyone else noticed that "radical muslim cleric" is actually the "normal muslim cleric"?
Either they are calling for an increase in violence or they refuse to denounce the violence.
I am finding it impossible to tell the difference between them.
I think we better see condemnation and action on this from the Saudi government PDQ. If they ignore this, they are complicit IMO.
But, but the Saudi's are our friends!
How are Saudi Clerics any different than Berkly Professors?
Let me count the ways.......
1. Saudi television has raised millions of dollars through telethons to pay the families of children the Palestinians have used to strap bombs to themselves and murder Israeli children and civilians.
2. The vast majority of terrorists responsible for the horrific 11 Sep 2001 murder and mayhem in New York City were Saudi citizens.
3. The Saudi government is playing it both ways. They have allegedly closed their border with Iraq to deny their people support of the heathen enforcers of the religion of peace, while turning a blind eye to the deadly declarations of those Saudi citizens leading the religion of peace.
Kind of like making friends with a rattlesnake, don't you think?

The Saudi guys use WMD's. Berkly profs use pink lace, panty hose and blow-up dolls.
Everybody knows it's just not right to pick on the inmates at the Berkly asylum.....crazy is as crazy does....we just don't tell 'em. They just stumble down Telegraph Avenue attempting to make fried brain sense of what day it is.
Always remember; they're not to be taken seriously. Smile at whatever they say....makes 'em feel good.
