Oh, I don't know about that. The real Evangelicals were eschewing those elections in droves, but turned up for this one. Clinton and Gore are CINOs--even more specifically, Baptists in name only, or BINOs (hey, that's catchy--"AlBINO").
Churches in historically cultural Christian areas, like the one I grew up in in West Virginia, are full of people who might identify themselves as Christian but are quite simply not the real thing. Anyone can call themselves Christian. But going to McDonald's doesn't make you a cheeseburger either. And if Al Gore or Bill Clinton are born again, then I'm a Bhutanese goat peddler.
