"I cordially spoke with a number of my well educated, professional Ohio friends -- all of whom said that of course they were voting for Kerry. Then I decided to call a shirt-tail relative well down a distant branch of my family tree. She and her second husband live in a small town in northeast Ohio. They are high school graduates now in their late 40's"

They're trying to figure it out, but they're too arrogant to do it. Note the tone in this piece.

This is what they think of us....no major surprise here.

Shhhh, don't tell them. In 2000, they decided that they lost because they weren't liberal enough. Let's hope they conclude the same.

Let them think everyone else is stupid and we'll keep right on winning. They are arrogant pukes who are not even worthy enough to shine the shoes of the average people that they hate so much.

I don't believe any of the story written there. Pure BS, IMO.

Yep, the story is pure BS, but don't kid yourself....they actually believe it.

As a well-educated professional in Northeast Ohio myself, I am laughing at their stereotyping in this POS.

Funny, aren't they supposed to hate stereotyping?

morons......

Bwahahahahah

Oh, they have high school diplomas from twenty-two years ago.

That makes them more educated than a current graduate from a J-school.

Totally fascinating blog. However, yet again, the author cannot tear himself away from "progressive" ideology long enough to understand the actual problem.

Faith does matter. Period. Enlightened self-interest is a major factor in people's lives but faith matters more. This guy can't understand that Christians have made huge sacrifices for faith. Does the term "martyr" ring a bell?

Oh well, four years is long time. Education of the progressives is sort of a full-employment act for Christians.

That's the weird part of it--the author has included every klunky, hokey stereotype of the right she could come up with. It's such a disconnect and so transparent that it'd be hilarious if it wasn't so.....weird.

They'll never get it--just like Nancy Polosi, who ranted after GW gave his acceptance speech.

Interestingly, the author talks about "poor relatives," but note that the author says nothing of how he/she has helped those poor relatives.

They don't understand that even in near poverty, Christians can find peace and satisfaction in the Lord, not in "consumerism." Nor can they understand that we see the bigger picture of what is right for the country, not what material things are desired by the individual.

Maybe this country will begin experiencing more blessings because we have accepted a man of God as our President.

"They're trying to figure it out, but they're too arrogant to do it. "

And unwise. They picked the guy who has much for many to viscerally hate him, as they feel the same for Bush.

God Bless his "shirttail relatives" and all the others who had the wisdom to realize other things are ultimately more important than one's bank account. The author's disdain for Christians is incredible but not surprising.

Wow. She actually condescended to call " shirt-tail relative"? "Far down a long branch of the family tree"?
I certainly hope she washed her hands after having that conversation- she might have gotten some sort of Christian cooties.
The "reality-based" bunch will never see that no matter how much they may have, their resources, talents and abilities are finite. God's resources are infinite, and freely available to those who seek Him. The "reality-based" people will never understand that, until the world pulls the rug out from under them and they have no one else to go to. Fortunately, God won't hold that against them.
