A Sarasota judge won't lower the bail from $500,000 to $20,000 for a local man accused of driving his car toward U.S. Representative Katherine Harris. The judge said he was troubled by the accusations against 46-year-old registered Democrat Barry Seltzer.
Seltzer's attorney argued the bail should be lower, since his client doesn't have any prior convictions.
Police arrested Seltzer Wednesday, a day after he swerved toward Harris and her supporters. He's charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Seltzer told police he swerved toward the Republican Congresswoman and her supporters last Tuesday because they were impeding traffic.

At the time, that is not all he said. This report leaves out that he told them he was using his car for political speech and that he just wanted to intimidate and scare them a bit.
Lock him up and throw away the key.
He has hurt his cause. He will probably not vote (least of his concerns right now), was not in a position to contribute $ or time in the last week, and may sway some to vote for Harris out of sympathy.
Overall he has helped elevate Harris to the Rock Star status she deserves. She is a future Senator.
If I remember right, he swerved right up onto the sidewalk, where Katherine Harris and Co. were "impeding traffic". This guy's a ticking time bomb. Wants to kill Republicans and he's just working his way up to it.
How about attempted murder?
This is the kind of client that gives a lawyer high blood pressure. If he had just shut up and said nothing, he would be out on the street with a fine by now. Instead he has to spout off about political speech (with a 5000# Cadillac!) and such nonsense. He will talk himself into a lengthy prison term.
Which is as it should be. Such stupidity should be punishable by law...
Dig that hole a little deeper, you maroon!
It seems that he wanted to terrorize an elected official along with the general public.
Anybody in Florida, is she gonna win I keep hearing its really close and I hate to see any of these close with the tricks we know the rats like to pull.
