"I believe the young man probably will register to vote," Haberlach (judge) said. "The reason I imposed the sentence the way I did was because I feel (voting) is the best way for people to express their political beliefs, rather than stealing someone's signs."

What a load of crap. Really, this is the hight of stupid, idiotic judicial retardation. If anything, it encouraged the guy to do it again.

This is incredible; the punishment for stealing a Bush sign is allowing him to register to vote for Kerry?
To: Splatter
This Judge MUST be a Democrat! What a bunch of BUNK! Our Judges need to be purged!

I have $5 to donate to the cause. If all the Freepers donate $1 we could pay both of them off not to vote!

A comparable "punishment" would be requiring that someone who vandalized an abortion clinic be forced to make a donation to Human Life.
To: Splatter
His right to vote should have been rescinded during this election. That is precisely what he was trying to do to others.
This decision wasn't made by a judge, but a left wing liberal ba$t$rd.

This is STUPID! It is like someone steeling your Ford to destroy it because he doesn't like Fords, and the Judge sentencing him to go buy a Chevy.

I think this "Judge" ought to be ordered to stand in the victims front yard for ten days holding up a Bush for President sign and let all the neighborhood dogs pee on his feet!

"I believe the young man probably will register to vote," Haberlach (judge) said. "The reason I imposed the sentence the way I did was because I feel (voting) is the best way for people to express their political beliefs, rather than stealing someone's signs." So, in order to punish the offender, the judge rewards John Kerry.
$20 says this judge is a Democrat and/or was appointed by a Democrat.
Remember, kids: it's only illegal if you're a Republican!
