BALTIMORE - A 12-year-old girl has been charged in the beating death of a 4-year-old family friend, according to police documents.
The girl, whose name was not released, was arrested Friday in the death of Randy Allen Weeks, who died Oct. 19, according to police documents obtained by The (Baltimore) Sun.
Police refused to release details about the case, which was one of more than 30 youth homicides in Baltimore this year. At least nine victims have been younger than 10 years old.
"Our prosecutors are confronted with the raw emotion of these tragedies day after day," said Margaret T. Burns, a spokeswoman for the state's attorney's office. "They are weary from the grief that is shared by the families in our community. They wonder 'Are we losing this battle?'"
Baltimore Health Commissioner Peter Beilenson, who leads a panel that reviews unexpected child deaths, said he cannot remember any other recent deaths in which the suspect was a girl.
"However, it does point out that girls are unquestionably becoming more violent," he said, noting charges against several women and girls earlier this year in the brutal beating of a 12-year-old girl at a birthday party.
Children are simply not taught to control themselves.
Please keep us advised as information becomes available.
Unfortunately, this begins in the home. It was never the responsibility of the schools............until now.
you are probably absolutely right... when I was growing up if I even THOUGHT about sassing an adult much less actually doing it, my behinie would be paddled....we respected and feared our teachers because THEY would tell our parents if we didnt and another paddling would be waiting at home.... ethics, manners, respect....lost words in most homes anymore...
Self esteem building gone awry.
A 12 year old girl murdering a 4 year old. What in the world could a 4 year old do to provoke this girl to beat him to death?
Well... Let me guess... This story deals, once again, with 'minorities,' right? If not, please advise to the contrary.
I certainly hope they're investigating her parents and homelife, especially if she has brothers and sisters.
Public schooling has nothing to do with this.
I went to the Baltimore papers. The lack of any details supports your surmise.
This girl likely comes from a home which has never seen or felt love. Most likely her mother brings home boyfriends who mistreated the kids --- she's filled with hate and murder because she's never learned anything else, never learned compassion.
Broke the video game?
Ate the last cookie?
Hogged the bathroom?
Lost the TV remote?
Spilled her 'coke'?
Looked at her funny?
Who knows. The culture is being overrun by spiritual Palestinians. There's always a 'day of rage' around every corner.
Put the power of life and death in the hands of somebody with no more basic IQ than a chicken, and a certain number of folks get killed, simple as that.
Of course, the one thing anybody could do which would straighten a place like Baltimore out the fastest would be to eliminate the dem party.
No offense, but avoid the 'blaming' mindset. Clearly, any blame in her upbringing should start with her parents or parental figure.
School's conduct notwithstanding, they have not raised this girl well.
A shame.
Maybe she is just a bad seed that has no purpose in life and either should be locked away or executed. She's pathological for sure --- you can't save someone who could murder someone just because they were so much younger and helpless.

I believe that you are probably correct.
Public school and day care is the reason this stuff happens.
First, parents send the kids to daycare, where they learn "survival of the fittest" instead of compassion, and then they send them to public schools, where they learn that God is only for "home", but not the "real world"...
Then they go to "afterschool" to practice more "survival of the fittest". Then they get home and do their homework. When is there time for God, morals and discussions about good and evil?
Bull. My parents when to public school. My husband and I went to public school. My children at times had to attend day care (aka nursery school back when I was a kid.) My children now attend public school.
I have no complaints with public schools.
God and morals are the pervue of the PARENTS and their church of choice.
