Clinton rallies Democrats, hopes of capturing battleground Nevada

LAS VEGAS -- Former President Bill Clinton rallied Democrats in Nevada on Friday, hoping to energize voters just four days before the election to give John Kerry enough momentum to win this battleground state.

Clinton, who carried Nevada in both his presidential bids, spoke of his accomplishments during eight years in the White House and drew parallels to what the country could expect from a Kerry administration.

"We can make a fresh start," Clinton told the cheering crowd. "And I know John Kerry. He will make a good president if you elect him on Tuesday."

About 4,000 people gathered on a clear, crisp southern Nevada day to hear the former president speak at an outdoor rally at a grassy amphitheater in front of the Clark County Government Center.

"Eight years ago on Nevada Day, I was right here at this very spot and Nevada voted to re-elect me. And I want you to vote to elect John Kerry," Clinton said.

The appearance on the day Nevada celebrates its statehood is one of several expected in key states by Clinton, who had been off the campaign trail in recent weeks after quadruple-bypass heart surgery.

Nevada Democrats hope the rally and an appearance Saturday at a community center in Henderson will energize Kerry supporters and get them to the polls on Election Day. They also hope Clinton will appeal to independents and elusive undecided voters.

His biggest accomplishment was losing congress after he enacted that big tax increase in his first two years of his presidency. After that, congress kept him from dong anything and he had to enact republican issues (welfare reform, NAFTA, etc.) to keep from getting thrown out of office.

Curiously, neither Vegas paper has anything on this.

Figures that BJ would show up where he can personally get
some quality time, irrespective of where Kerry needs him
to be.

Did i42 happen to mention how he freed the cop-killing FALN terrorists? Nevada voters should be reminded of that.

Will Lurch free the Al Qaeda terrorists we are holding?

Must have been a rousing success.
