Arlen Specter why don't you just go to the other side of the aisle and quit pretending to be a Republican. If I were the majority leader I would give him the worst committee assignment possible.

Remember if Arlen loses the Jon Kyle(R-AZ/a REAL Republican) will take over as US Senate Judiciary Chairman.

We still need Spector for the GOP Caucus.

Remember how the Senate works: short of using the nuclear option, the Republicans need 60 votes to overcome a filibuster. Spector didn't say he'd join a filibuster against conservative judges, like a Democrat would. He said only he'd vote against them.

That's a huge difference, because the really crucial vote is not on the nominees: they'll pass. It's getting past the filibuster. A Republican, even Spector, will vote with the GOP Caucus. A Democrat, even Miller, won't.

In other words, you want a Dem senate...which means you could kiss any new judges goodbye. Spector is a Scottish t*rd, but he is one more "R" in a majority.

I swear if I lived in Vermont, my vote would go for the
Democrat. What is the difference? Besides, he could be a lesson to the other RINOS in the senate.....

This can easily be avoided by giving Specter a different Chairmanship.

Yes he was. And unless my memory is extremely faulty, he was a Democrat at the time.

To keep the seat in the Republican column. I would be surprised if the President's support didn't come with some conditions. We will see.

that assumes that Frist will make him the chairman - might not happen. Especially when ARlen stood up the VP on the visit yesterday.
