Al Qaeda seeks tie to local gangs

A top al Qaeda lieutenant has met with leaders of a violent Salvadoran criminal gang with roots in Mexico and the United States -- including a stronghold in the Washington area -- in an effort by the terrorist network to seek help infiltrating the U.S.-Mexico border, law enforcement authorities said.

Adnan G. El Shukrijumah, a key al Qaeda cell leader for whom the U.S. government has offered a $5 million reward, was spotted in July in Honduras meeting with leaders of El Salvador's notorious Mara Salvatrucha gang, which immigration officials said has smuggled hundreds of Central and South Americans -- mostly gang members -- into the United States. Although they are actively involved in alien, drug and weapons smuggling, Mara Salvatrucha members in America also have been tied to numerous killings, robberies, burglaries, carjackings, extortions, rapes and aggravated assaults -- including at least seven killings in Virginia and a machete attack on a 16-year-old in Alexandria that severely mutilated his hands.

I can't wait till W is re-elected so we can start riding his lame-duck a** about this issue.

OMG! This is sickening. As if we don't have enough to worry about.

This map is two years old, and more Mosque's have sprung up across the U.S. since. And now this? Holy Moses!

Good ol' Adnan: better known to his friends as Jaffar the Pilot .

I imagine "Jaffar" is back in the USA by now: having scouted the Panama Canal for terror attacks, and set up the appropriate human smuggling networks.

We'll be hearing from him one of these days.....

Actually, I think AlQaeda infiltration of US gangs would be the quickest way to eliminate gangs in this country I can think of. The public would then insist that they be wiped out. This would elevate their status from local problem to one of national significance.

If street gangs are allying themselves with Al-Qaeda then maybe we can bypass the Posse Comitatus act and use the Army to take out the street gangs.

I was listening to some talk show about it.

I did an "archive" search of the title..

I guess I should be more careful. Sorry for the redundancy, redundancy.

Indeed.

The only thing that allows these groups to survive is the fact the police are the only ones currently after them.

There's a reason burglars fear armed home owners more than cops... and it's a good one.

If bright, motivated, patriotic, freeholders ever decide the time has come to take up their arms in defense of their way of life, the legal minutiae criminals depend on won't provide much of a defense.
