Oct. 25, 2004 Insider Report from NewsMax.com

1. Campaign Buzz: Early Results, Lieberman's Code

NewsMax's intelligence network hears:

• Early results. Polling of early convenience voting in states like Florida are not going well for President Bush. Republicans expected this, with the enormous resources pumped into the voter efforts of Democrats.

• Democratic vote buying. We have already reported on the Ohio Democratic operative that was allegedly offering free crack cocaine to new voters. We hear that in key swing states, the Democrats are offering early voters lulus such as free breakfast or lunch if they get on their bus and go vote.

John Fund, who has authored the important book, "Stealing Elections," reports he has heard of Democrats offering money to people who register new voters. These operatives receive a fee - half of the fee is paid when the new voter registers and the other half when they vote. Fund says that's tantamount to illegally buying votes. [Get John Fund's book Go Here Now.]

• Kerry's anti-war record. A top political strategist in New York complained to NewsMax that the Bush campaign never raised the issue of Kerry's anti-war activities and his secret meetings with the Viet Cong. "If Jewish voters heard Kerry was not just a protester, but was actually having meetings, many would stay at home," the strategist said.

Despite the fact the Swift Boat Vets' initial ads caused Kerry's ratings to sink, and that Kerry's campaign clearly fears the documentary "Stolen Honor" being shown, the Bush campaign has made no effort to help press that message home to voters. [Get your copy of 'Stolen Honor' Go Here Now]

• Joe Lieberman's secret code. NewsMax was one of the few media outlets to report that Democratic Senator Joe Lieberman took the unusual step of praising President Bush while chiding John Kerry during a recent campaign stop in south Florida.

Remarkably, Lieberman praised Bush strongly for his support of Israel. "We are dealing with a president who's had a record of strong, consistent support for Israel. You can't say otherwise," Lieberman said. He then chided Kerry. "And I think John Kerry, to reassure people, has to himself be explicit" in his support of Israel rather than having surrogates deliver the message.

So what did all of this mean? Prominent New York Reform Rabbi Morton H. Pomerantz said, "Joe Lieberman is speaking in code. Any Jew hearing that knows exactly what he is saying: 'Vote for Bush, Kerry is a bad guy.'"

2. Media Bigs Spend Big for Kerry

Yes, Walter Cronkite and the New York Times have admitted their leftist bias, and CBS's Dan Rather and ABC's Mark Halperin and Peter Jennings are among the latest to reveal more about theirs, yet many in the establishment media still try to deny reality.

But the next time someone claims most media don't have a liberal bent, cite this report.

Democrats get the overwhelming share of donations from news and entertainment media tycoons, Broadcasting & Cable reports.

Take, for example, Cox Enterprises (the media giant which owns numerous outlets including the Atlanta Journal Constitution) and its director, Ann Cox Chambers who claimed to the magazine: "President Bush creates chaos in whatever theater he turns his attention to. I think four more years would be catastrophic for any of our companies, as well as every other company."

A vice chairman of John Kerry's campaign, she has raised more than $100,000 for him and has funded his Bush-hating 527 groups.

3. Behind Joe Biden's 'Brain Dead' Insult

When disgraced Sen. Joe Biden called President Bush "brain dead" this past week, we yawned and then wondered which thug in John Kerry's presidential campaign he cribbed the attack from.

Recall that Biden was forced to drop his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 because he had plagiarized from British pol Neil Kinnock.

And who blew the whistle on Biden's scandal back then? Michael Dukakis' handler John Sasso.

Sasso had to quit Dukakis' campaign because he backstabbed Biden. But whom does he work for now? John Kerry.

Considering Kerry's link to Sasso, you have to wonder why Biden is stooping to such sleazy new lows to "help." Or does he hope his nastiness will backfire and hurt his own party's nominee for his own personal revenge?

4. What the Left Thinks of Pro-Bush GIs

Some Democrats were furious about the National Annenberg Election Survey's finding that GIs and their families trust President Bush over Sen. John Kerry by 3 to 1.

A regular NewsMax reader and letter writer who often shares with us the unique perspective of the Left Coast university town of Berkeley, weighed in:

"It is reported the Military personnel trust and prefer Bush to Kerry. In that case, it would be wiser to get rid of the stupid, over-inflated army than have 4 more Bush years. I suppose the average soldier is rather stupid and couldn't get a job elsewhere. They probably think they will go straight to Heaven if they die for Bush, U.S., Jesus and Big Daddy of Sky Ranch."

Apparently John Edwards was right: There are two Americas.

5. In California this Monday, at the Reagan Library . . .

Vanity Fair writer Bob Colacello's new book on Nancy and Ronald Reagan has gotten rave reviews from Reaganites and even Reagan critics. Colacello's "Ronnie and Nancy, Their Path to the White House 1911-1980" offers perhaps the most extensive understanding of the love affair that changed America and the world.

On Monday, October 25, Colacello will be at the Reagan Library at 1:00 p.m. to discuss and sign his new book. The lecture begins at 1:00 p.m. and the book signing begins at 1:30 p.m. This event is free to attend. If you need further info, call 805-522-2977.

There is absolutely NO WAY for them to know what the early voting returns reflect. Those ballots are not permitted to be opened until some time before the election but typically, not until the Monday before election day.

Each state is different but as I recall from a chart posted here recently, most states can't count the absentee votes until Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Democrats lead early voting

LAS VEGAS SUN

Democrats continued to hold the advantage in Clark County early voting after polls closed this weekend, according to the Clark County Election Department.

So far more than 138,000 of Clark County's 684,000 voters cast their ballots early as of this morning, Larry Lomax, Clark County Registrar of Voters, said.

Of those who have voted, about 61,800 were registered Democrats; another 56,200 were Republicans, he said.

Early voting ends on Friday.

Meanwhile Republicans, spurred in part by a mailing blitz by the Bush-Cheney campaign and the state Republican Party, held a 305-vote edge in the number of absentee ballots cast.

The Election Department has also received more than 29,000 absentee ballots, 13,445 of which were Republicans, 13,140 of which were Democrats.

I'm not Jewish, but I thought the same thing, FWIW.
