AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) President Bush will hold a rally at The Palace on Wednesday evening, campaign spokesman John Truscott said Friday.
The campaign hopes to begin handing out 15,000 tickets on Saturday for the event at the Auburn Hills home of the defending NBA champion Detroit Pistons.
The visit will be the first of several the Republican president plans to make in the final week of the campaign.
"There will be other stops in Michigan before election day, but we don't have those details firmed up yet," Truscott said.
Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry plans to hold an early evening rally Monday at Macomb Community College.
Bush last campaigned in the state on Oct. 6, when he held a rally in Farmington Hills. Kerry last was in Michigan on Sept. 15, when he addressed the Detroit Economic Club.
Both candidates are sending in surrogates this weekend, including Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic vice presidential candidate John Edwards.
She will attend a women's rally Saturday at the field house on the University of Michigan's Dearborn campus with U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow and Democratic National Committee member Debbie Dingell.
Recent polls show the presidential race here is tight, making the state a prime target for Bush and Kerry leading up to Nov. 2.
listen up. pilgrim.....GW will win Michigan
So cool, Cheney was over here in my small home town as a suprise visit. I was able to shake his hand and he made phone calls asking for support. It was great!!!!!
I missed the VP last week, dang it! Maybe, MAYBE they'll swing back over to GR next week for a visit again before we take the state!!!
Bush in campaigning on Blue I-75 corridor, Kerry support must be crumbling in our home state.
When W takes the state, I can die happy :))
