Presbyterian: Muslims easier to deal with than Jews (Mega-Barf Alert)

An elder in the Presbyterian Church, USA, said during a meeting with a leader of the terrorist group Hezbollah that Muslims are easier to deal with than Jews.

The comment was aired on Arab television and recorded by the Middle East Media Research Institute TV Monitor Project, or MEMRI TV. The meeting with the terrorist – Sheikh Nabil Qauq, the leader of Hezbollah in south Lebanon – occurred Sunday during a visit by a 24-member delegation from the Presbyterian Church, USA. MEMRI has a video clip of part of the meeting on its website.

"As an elder of our church, I'd like to say that according to my recent experience, relations and conversations with Islamic leaders are a lot easier than dealings and dialogue with Jewish leaders," Elder Ronald Stone said during the meeting.

Stone of Pittsburgh, Pa., praised Hezbollah at the meeting, saying, "We treasure the precious words of Hezbollah and your expression of goodwill toward the American people."

Three top church officials responded Wednesday, stating, "The visit to Hezbollah and the comments on that occasion by members of this Presbyterian group do not reflect the official position of the Presbyterian Church."

It better not reflect the official policy of the Presbyterian CHurch. That's probably because of all the darft-dodger scum who joined the churches during Vietnam.

Does anyone have any contact information for Mr. Ron Stone? I'd love to give him a piece of my mind.

Parenthetically, I wonder when the last time was that this "Christian" said that he "treasured the precious words" of the Scriptures rather than of Hezbollah?

There are a lot of reasons why I'm not a member of the PCUSA. Thanks for giving me another reason.

" Delegation's meeting with Hezbollah ‘misguided' and statements ‘reprehensible,' PC(USA) officials tell Jewish leaders

Three top officials of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) have written a letter to Jewish leaders with whom they met last month, renouncing a meeting earlier this week in southern Lebanon between a PC(USA) delegation and representatives of Hezbollah.

General Assembly Stated Clerk Clifton Kirkpatrick, General Assembly Council Executive Director John Detterick and General Assembly Moderator Rick Ufford-Chase said the meeting between members of the church's Advisory Committee on Social Witness Policy (ACSWP) and Hezbollah representatives during a two-week fact-finding mission to the Middle East was “misguided at best” and denounced statements made by delegation members after the meeting as “reprehensible.” [Read more]"

This is the feeble attempt on their website to make amends. Wht the h@ll were they doing meeting with terrorists? You're either with the terrorists or your with us.

Stone of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dammit, why is it that whenever Pittsburgh makes international news its always one of the minority nutballs that manages to do it?

Though honestly I'm not suprised the Pittsburgh Presbyterian Church in my exposure to it, at least at the leadership levels has by and large lost its soul.

The Presbyterian church broke into 2 factions a few years back. I believe this article reflects the PCUSA not the United Presbyterian Church. However, if it does I would be embarrased of my church and would probably resign my membership. I am going to ask my minister about this article.

It better not reflect the official policy of the Presbyterian Church.

The particular branch of the Presbyterian Church from which this group derives can't have it both ways.

They've already singled out Israel as the guilty party by their policy of divestment. They therefore can't claim to distance themselves from the logical outcome of this position.

This has little to do with Draft Dodgers, and everything to do with this denomination setting themselves up as God, disparaging his Holy Scriptures as something they can flout.

This is the mission statement I found on Brother Ronald "wolf in wolf's clothing" Stone's church's website, Cathedral of Hope.org:

Our congregation seeks to promote peace, justice and human dignity;
to reflect a spirit of openness, sharing, and learning in our ministry and mission;
to build a richly diverse faith community that witnesses to our oneness in Christ
across all boundaries of race, social class, culture, gender and sexual identity.

The guy kinda sounds like a klansman: "They are better than jews, but not as good as chinamen; of course, blacks are the worst, etc." What a horrible, pathetic, racist, stereotyping loser. Typical liberal.

I believe this article reflects the PCUSA not the United Presbyterian Church.

The United Presbyterian Church merged with the Presbyterian Church USA to form the United Presbyterian Church USA. They then merged with the Presbyterian Church US and the whole misguided gaggle took the name Presbyterian Church (USA) to distinguish it form the old Presbyterian Church USA. In practice, over time, the parens are usually omitted.

So yes. this gang of liberals includes the former United Presbyterians.

They do not, however, include Bible believing groups such as the OPC and the PCA, nor the EPC.

Easier to deal with? I wonder if he has tried building a Presbyterian Church in Egypt or Saudi Arabia.

"What does that mean 'easier to deal with?"

Means that the towelheads kissed their butts nice and perly pink and said whatever they wanted to hear.
