In the article are some interesting poll numbers: [Especially considering Kerry is a Catholic (or claims to be) and Bush is a United Methodist.]

Zogby International found that 60% of Catholics in Minnesota were likely to vote for Bush, while 36% for Kerry (August Telephone poll) -- my paraphrasing.

Polls from Battleground states by Zogby showed that only in New Mexico and Nevada were Catholics more likely to vote for Kerry than Bush.

This poll showed Catholics favored Bush in Iowa, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

There was another poll (by Pew Research Center) that showed the president with 49% to 39% advantage among Catholics.

A final poll by California-based Barna Research Group (released September 27), revealed that Catholic voters had shifted with 53% to 39% in favor of Bush.

These poll results are all from the article.

Suppose the law was that abortion was legal only for liberals.

What would that mean to the electoral demographics in a generation or so?

The Wall Street Journal had an article, that because the 2000 election was as close as it was, the Democrats (Gore) would have won if abortion would have been illegal -- about 40 million more Americans.

This is mainly because abortion takes out more liberal voters than conservative ones. I just can't remember the date of the Wall Street Journal article, but it was before Peggy Noonan took a leave of absence from the Wall Street Journal.

Should turn off Christian hispanics and blacks, too. Should turn off all Christians.

It's the pro-abortion stance that is the main reason my hubby is voting against Kerry this year...it's costing the democrats large numbers of votes...and with all the millions of babies slaughtered, the democrats are way in front of the Islamofascists.

Here is a very Catholic prayer that I wrote once about the holy innocents, the little souls:

Prayer to the Little Souls

Holy Innocents,
little martyrs
ripped from your mother's womb,
you who were formed
to be loved and cared for,
to grow into a child of God
walking the face of the earth,
but instead
became witnesses
of selfishness,
of the culture of death,
of human unwillingness
to even consider you human
lest you interfere
with the life of the ones
who most should have loved you,
O little souls,
safe now in the loving arms
of our Blessed Mother,
where no one will hurt you again,
Pray for us.

Pray that we will
have the courage to speak up
when we would have been silent
on the sanctity of life.

Pray for us
that we will not let the fine words
and smooth talking of those who would lead us
down the dark paths
in the name of fairness
confuse us about what really matters.

Pray for us
to know the culture of death
and have the heart
to stand up for right
and God and truth.

Pray for us,
and mothers faced with crisis
that the right person
will speak the right word
say the right thing,
pray the right prayer
and she will save her child
from the evil of those who would take its life.

O little souls,
pray for us that we might use well
the gift of life
that was denied you,
for the glory of our Lord,
now and forever,
Amen.

Susan E. Stone, 2004

Consider this:

John Kerry promotes "a woman's right to choose," to kill her baby in the womb.

John Kerry opposes "a woman's right to choose," to carry a gun to defend herself.

Is it just me, or is there something wrong here?

Families tend to be Republican. For example, married men and married women are more likely to be Republican that are singles. I think that it may be a case of people who have families learning, real fast, what life is really about. Married people must take reponsibility, and a large proportion begin to get the knack of it. There is an old saying that goes something to the effect that everyone is a conservative in his own line of work (implying that when you face practical problems, you better be realistic). It is the same with maintaining a family: for most people without unlimited funds, practical lessons are learned very quickly, and even liberals may grow into conservatives.

The Democrats are not unified in their support for John Kerry. It seems the Dems are torn too.
