I think Bush I and Scowcroft are pretty close to being of the same mind when it comes to Israel. Bush I, however, will maintain silence on the issue because it's his son in the oval office. But make no mistake, unless he has had a change of heart, Bush I is none to happy about his son warming up to Sharon.

It's fair to say that in contrast the GWB, GHB was among the most hostile Presidents toward Israel, along with Carter and perhaps Eisenhower. Arafat was pleased at GWB's election, in his early statements hoping that GWB would follow in the path of his father. Another of Yasser's many miscalculations.
