The First District of Arkansas is the poorest in the States. They've voted overwhelmingly Democratic forever.
After 150 years of this they are still amongst the poorest in the nation. Meanwhile, the area of the state that has always voted Republican is soaring economically.
Now our Statehouse has been controlled by Democrats for 150 years, but the areas that have given them their votes for 150 years is the poorest in the nation. But the area that votes Republican is zooming economically despite the fact that they have been in the minority for 150 years.
Give the 1st District a couple hundred more years and maybe they will try something new.

That is indeed the problem. Republicans are simply unelectable in the first district of Arkansas. There are too many older voters here who see the Democratic party as it was 50 years ago, and not as it is today. Its almost impossible to yank the blinders off of them.
Still, slowly but surely, I think the situation is changing. Young voters, in particular, who have no ties to the old Democratic party, are much more receptive to Republican stances due to religious beliefs and a conservative upbringing.
