Signs of dirty politics

Election campaign vandals keep pushing the envelope.

But this is the worst year GOP campaign worker and Venice businessman Joe Brower has ever seen. "I just want this known so the Democratic leaders will get their crazies in check," Brower said. "This is the kind of stuff that happens in Bolivia."

Sarasota County Democratic Party Chairman Harold O. Miller said he also is upset about the vandalism and Brower's comments. He particularly derided Brower's remark about Bolivia.

"He (Brower) is completely wrong and it is shocking to hear him make such a statement because this doesn't even begin to look like elections in some of those countries," Miller said. "And we agreed jointly to sign a letter directing everybody stop this kind of activity."

Brower said this is the first he has heard of the Democrats' agreement to sign the letter even though he said the GOP called the Democrats Monday and suggested such a letter. He said the call was not returned.

"This is the first I've heard of the agreement," Brower said. "It would be nice if they'd call us and let us know."

GOP campaign worker Joe Brower blames the Democrats for defacing or destroying campaign signs like these. The Democrats have said their signs have been destroyed, defaced or stolen, too. The person who defaced the Bush pig either slept through spelling or attended a school that emphasized creativity over grammar, punctuation and spelling.

Agreement

Miller agreed with Brower that this is the worst year for electioneering vandalism he has seen. Brower said about 20 Bush-Cheney signs posted along East Venice Avenue east of U.S. 41 Bypass were vandalized recently. He said the vandals work at night.

"If they can't pull them out of the ground and toss them in the bushes," he said, "they just snap them off."

Miller also said numerous Kerry-Edwards signs have been vandalized.

"We have advised all our people who put signs in their front yards to take them in at night," Miller said.

Brower said the sheriff's office and the Venice police told him they have noticed an increase in electioneering vandalism.

Brower filed a police incident report with VPD.

The last two lines in the seven-line report are: "The owner of the signs is the Republican Party. The only suspect information at this time is that they are most likely Democrats."

Freelancers?

Miller said the vandals could be anybody.

"I have no idea who's behind it," he said.

Some pols say the vandals could also be freelancers, that is, people with no political ax to grind but who are malcontents who enjoy destroying other peoples' property.

One political veteran even suggested the GOP might be vandalizing its own signs to gain media exposure. "That is a total crock," Brower said. "Absurd."

But the vandals who defaced the Bush pig at the corner of U.S. 41 and Indian Avenue win the award for Dumbest Vandals.

In defacing the pig, they crossed out the word Tomorrow in the Bush slogan "Building a Better Tomorrow" and wrote "holacost." instead of holocaust.

The reports of voter fraud are stunning as well. Dems don't care however as long as their goals are met. They could give a crap about the "fairness" that they all preach loudly.

Fair for them is an open advantage. A slightly different definition than what honest people would define it as.

But they're working on it.

Nice job Joe!

I see that Drudge has a story about democratic registrations being torn up and discarded. Personally I found the accusations to be a bit suspect due to the fact that only a moron would do that sort of thing right out in the open.

I also saw a story about the "vandalism" of democratic campaign offices. (someone wrote "Bush rules" on a window) It doesn't rise to the level of shooting windows out or assaulting volenteers.

And as a person who volunteers at our Repub. HQ every day, and as a person who has driven for six hours round trip to get more signs and deliver them to several local HQ, this is not funny at all. I would NEVER destroy THEIR signs or HQ or mess up their voters registration.

Maybe the record new voter registrations isn't a sign of fraud. Last night our local CBS affiliate reported that of all new registrants this year: 44k were independents, 41k were Republican, and 21k were Democrats. That does not seem so worrisome to me.

Yeah right! This seems more like the Brownshirt jackboot thugs the Dems accuse us of being....... What's next gang bangers shooting up the polls?

I read somewhere here in the last two days that 3000 of the 4000 signs for Bush/Cheney have been vandalized or stollen in my state of Ohio........people working at various Bush/Cheney campaign offices have been ruffed up by union thugs .........the offices have been ransacked or window glass has been broken and potential fraudulent voter registration seems to be rampant throughout the country...........this is no coincidence.......this is planning wink, wink!

When you see one of these

going after a sign, look out! I had my Bush/Cheney sign knocked down twice by bucks. My neighbor and I watched the buck take its horns and rake it several times, but the wire support just bent over.

I am waiting for some lib to put a letter to the editor of our local paper about some Republican cutting up his john/john sign (on a wodden stake). I saw a buck ripping the sign to shreds. Guess the white tail deer don't like kerry/edwards either.

Yeah, deer tend to be totally non-partisan. $;-)

The recent hurricanes we had here in Florida were rather unbiased as well.

Yeah, but the hurricanes were Bush's fault. At least that is what the left is saying.
