Volunteer lawyers to watch for voting problems for Democrats

DETROIT (AP) — The Kerry campaign and the Michigan Democratic Party announced Tuesday that they will dispatch hundreds of volunteer lawyers to polling places that have a large number of minority or student voters to ensure people are not improperly kept from voting.

Party chairman Mark Brewer said more than 400 lawyers have been recruited to volunteer in Michigan so far, and the campaign expects to have up to 700. Hundreds of non-lawyers are also expected to volunteer as poll watchers, he said.

Nationwide, the Democrats hope to recruit 60,000 lawyers, said former Detroit Mayor Dennis Archer, a member of the party's election protection task force.

Among the concerns is making sure polling places are open on time on Election Day and that people are not improperly turned away because they lack a certain form of identification, Archer said.

"We're protecting every voter — every absentee, every senior citizen, everybody with a language problem, everybody that needs assistance at the polls," U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Detroit, said.

Brewer said volunteers are currently inspecting ballots around the state and reviewing election procedures.

On Nov. 2, poll watchers will be stationed "in African American precincts, Hispanic precincts, precincts where there are Arab American voters, as well as precincts where there are student voters because there is also a history of mistaken intimidation toward students," he said.

I think we should start a rumor that there is a plan to intimidate "minority" voters by placing white people in the precincts. Then, when the DNC lawyers show up, they will get the cr*p kicked out of them.

I believe I read that Bush/Cheney is also planning on using lawyers, paralegals and law students for election monitoring as well.

They were putting out the call for such folks some weeks back.

Yep. The Republicans are planning on doing the same thing or some variation of it. Seems like the party won't take this RAT fraud sitting down.
