A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....10-12-04...If Women Ruled the World
Billie

A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~
Let's take a break from campaigning for today and imagine instead that women ruled the world. Not tough, steely, career-minded women, but the Donna Reed kind of woman ... cookies warm from the oven, lace doilies, fresh flowers on every table .... well, you get the picture, don't you? Here are just a few things that might be changed if women were in charge of everything.
Even when you're sending emails or freeping with your friends, the Pretty Woman wants to make sure she puts her best face forward.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

Every woman knows how to use these - sorta makes the traditional hammer and screwdriver obsolete.

~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~
This just makes good sense. If you want a certain color car, no need to wander over the whole lot - just tell the salesman what color you want.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

I don't know why men never thought of this. Instead they put a lot of silly numbers on the speedometer. Anyone should see this is way easier to understand.

~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~
Why should bowling alleys all have such a stark, clinical look to them? This is much more pleasing to the eye and would probably eliminate some of the hostile feelings between competitors, as it just oozes warm fuzzies.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

One of the nicest things about the Finest is that we can enjoy the camaraderie of good friends, whether being serious or silly, and we thank you for that. I received some of these pictures from a friend in email the other day - no text or explanation was needed! Thought it would be fun to 'pretty them up' and have a Fun Day at the Finest today! Smile! Just three more weeks til America wins again.

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Help Wanted!

Read: 2 Timothy 2:1-13

If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. —Matthew 16:24

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 39-40; Colossians 4

Perhaps the most effective advertisement ever written appeared in a London newspaper early in the 20th century: "Men wanted for hazardous journey. Small wages, bitter cold, long months of complete darkness, constant danger. Safe return doubtful." Those were the words written by Sir Ernest Shackleton, the famous South Pole explorer.

Commenting on the overwhelming response he received, Shackleton said, "It seemed as though all the men in Great Britain were determined to accompany us."

Shackleton's words remind me of Jesus' words in Matthew 16:24, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me." The Lord was calling people to go with Him on a hazardous journey—the way of the cross. He issued that call after telling His disciples that He was going to Jerusalem to suffer and be killed.

Through the centuries, thousands have responded to Jesus' words by forsaking all to follow Him. But unlike Shackleton's expedition that came to an end, the Lord's work goes on and volunteers are still needed. He continues to call for those who will serve Him regardless of the cost.

Have you answered His call? —Richard De Haan

Never came the call more clear,
Midst the storms of hate and fear,
Jesus' love to show in this world of woe;
For His grace is ever near. —Loes

A faith that costs nothing and demands nothing is worth nothing.

My father-in-law, a retired Col, who served in WW2, said Women should be put in charge of the wars, then they could all have tea and go home. :-)

Hi, dutchess - thank you! You always put a smile on *my* face with your compliments and cheery posts!

I am with you on the campaign stuff - getting those same knots in my stomach, along with butterflies. Keep waiting for the other shoe to drop from the party that knows no boundaries as far as integrity and underhandedness goes.

These next three weeks are nailbiters. Please, God, let us not have another Election 2000.
