Bush Wins; Kerry Loses Debate in Beverly Hills, Brentwood
Canyon News ^ | Oct 9, 2004 | Andrew Keegan and Anna Marie

Posted on 10/09/2004 6:06:39 AM PDT by veronica

Beverly Hills - Canyon News staff went out into the streets of Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and Westwood to see what readers had to say of tonight’s debate between John Kerry and George Bush in Missouri.

Three staff members talked to 30 people who (1) saw or knew of the debates… (2) but did not watch the after-debate analysis by the media and (3) wanted to talk to us. Out of 30 people, 21 people said Bush won tonight’s debate. 6 people said Kerry won. 3 people thought it was a tie.

“Who won tonight’s debate, will it change your vote, why or who influences your political decisions and are you voting for the same person that you think won tonight’s vote.” We let them speak their mind and this is what we got:

Teresa Henson of Bel Air said, "Bush won. President Bush didn't do so well in the first round. I had decided last week that Kerry had my vote. After tonight, I saw a different stronger side of Bush and I'm voting for another 4 years!"

Greg Kelley of Culver City said, "I'm democrat and I'm voting Kerry/Edwards for sure. Bush won tonight's debate, but I'm still voting for Kerry. I’m a black man. I’m democrat. I have to be."

Charlie Chin of Los Angeles said, "Kerry definitely won. He's so smooth and he's our man. I don't want to be part of Bush's draft next year, or all that other part of Bush Plans, I'm voting Kerry all the way!"

Barbara Tiery of Beverly Hills said, "Bush kicked Kerry's ass. The first debate Bush didn't do so well. But Bush has my vote all the way. We'll be a sad world with Kerry in there. Politics is something I study on my own. No one influences me."

Tina Woods of Newport Beach said, "Bush won but I'm not sure who I will vote for yet. My only comment that I noticed is that people are so mean to the president about his stuttering speech. To see the people stand up and ask questions, they stuttered and shook while standing before a roomful of people. I’d like to see them get up and be president!"

Tasha Williams of Westwood said, “President Bush did very well. I wouldn’t say he won, but he did better this round. I’ll vote for Bush, probably. I am happy how he handled 9/11 and he seems honest!”

Robert Gomez of Inglewood said, “I vote Kerry, I didn’t see the debate, but I heard Kerry won. I figured he’d win… he’s a lawyer!”

Jack Wilmer of Bel Air said, “The debate was very unfair. The moderator gave more opportunity to Senator Kerry than to Bush. The media is always hard on Bush and he still comes out on top.”

Kiki Bennett of Malibu said, “All my friends are voting for Kerry, so I’ll probably vote Kerry. I don’t want Bush to make abortion legal and make us all go to war. Kerry won tonight, I think, but I didn’t hear all of it.”

George Hernandez of West Hollywood said, “It was a tie, I believe. I don’t know who is telling the truth anymore. It’s all about lies. I’m for gay marriage so I’m voting Kerry.”

Karen Temple of Los Feliz said, “Bush definitely lost. He’s such a liar and he’s guilty of killing little babies. I’d like to see him in Iraq. Kerry won and has my vote. I’m a poly sci major, so I’ve learned this first hand at school already, but I also watch CNN and CBS, NBC and cable news.”

If Bush won in these notoriously liberal enclaves, he's in good shape.

Note how they spun this article.....they tell us Bush clearly won in this liberal enclave then only print the comments of those voting for Kerry.

What's frightening is their votes count as much as yours and mine.

I thought the criteria was one was supposed to have watched the debate? Then one of the nitwits quoted didn't even watch it.

Invokes images of "Night of the Living Dead". Sheesh, this guy must soak his head in Koolaid.

Nope, I was wrong.

who (1) saw or knew of the debates

In other words, please tell us who you think won the debate - even though you may not have seen the debate. Great survey!

I think that this is a very honest evaluation of why Bush flubs phrases. And, while I don't think that he "stutters", I'm sure that many people would seize up altogether if they were standing in front of that many people. They say that the #1 is public speaking and as someone who makes many presenations to smaller groups of people (usually no more than 10), I will admit there are times when I'm nervous and have forgotten to make a point. One can only imagine the pressure involved in these events.

Then, I look at circumstances like the President's Joint Address on September 20, 2001. Knowing the message of strength the President brought to a grieving nation that night and the power with which he delivered it, it makes me understand the depth and scope of the President's job and reinforces the appreciation I have for George Bush.

Heck, even looks like some people in California get that too.

I'll never understand that.

Amazing that a whole race of people have been brainwashed like that.

The MSM can spin who won; the Average Joe knows better.

Kerry was very Gorish last night; Bush connected with the people, that is his strength.

Right. They say Bush won 21 votes and Kerry 6, but they manage to choose quotes that feature all 6 Kerry votes and only 4 for Bush.

No agenda here...

Geez, people don't make their own decisions these days do they? It's all about what their friends do. So very sad. I pity the ignorant fools.
