Democrats Challenge Fla. Voting Policy

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The state Democratic Party filed a federal lawsuit accusing Florida's secretary of state of violating federal law when she told elections supervisors to reject incomplete voter-registration forms.

The party asked a judge to order Glenda Hood to reverse her instructions to the state's 67 counties.

Hood's office told counties they should disqualify voters who failed to check a box confirming they are U.S. citizens, even if they signed an oath on the same form swearing they are. She and other state officials maintain that state and federal laws require the box to be checked.

"The Secretary of State's Office says they want to err on the side of the voter, yet they want to disenfranchise people," party Chairman Scott Maddox said.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday, the same day the NAACP sued a county elections supervisor in federal court, alleging the county disenfranchises blacks by having only one early voting site in an area where fewer minorities live

The NAACP wants Volusia County elections chief Deanie Lowe to open another such site by Oct. 18 in the eastern part of the county, where more blacks live. The only site now is in DeLand, the county seat.

"We will not allow them to disenfranchise," said Beverlye Neal, executive director of the Florida National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (news - web sites).

State law requires county elections officials to offer early voting starting 15 days before an election. Votes can be cast at elections offices, but if other sites are opened, they must be spread out evenly if possible.

Lowe said that meant the county also would have to open two other sites, something she called "humanly impossible," given the preparations needed for the Nov. 2 vote.

It was unclear Friday when a judge would hear the case.

In the challenge to the voter-registration policy, some counties have said they had no plans to follow Hood's policy as they process the flood of forms coming in ahead of Monday's registration deadline.

The Democrats' lawsuit marks the fourth time since August that the party has taken Hood and her office to court. The Democrats successfully challenged plans by the state to reopen qualifying for a state Senate seat in southwestern Florida but were thwarted in their effort to keep Ralph Nader (news - web sites) off the presidential ballot.

The Democrats were expected to argue in federal court Friday against the state law that requires provisional ballots to be cast in a voter's precinct.

The scum-bag Dems are making trouble already --- setting the stage. We should just expect it, if we have a Bush victory.

Does anyone know of any plan by the Bush Adminstration to deal with the massive voter fraud efforts underway prior to the election?? I understand there are recount funds for each candidate, but I want to know if Bush is dealing with what we see developing right now.

It's always zero tolerence with Dems until it comes to something they want. What dips.

When is Florida going to do something about the 46,000 NYC registered voters who are also registered in Florida? 68% of them are RATs.

I think there is some sort of plan in place. I know that the Bushies are protecting the right to franchise in the battleground states on election day and will be monitoring the process the entire way (including early voting). I think that they are wise about any dirty tricks perpetrated by the RATS between now and election day.

Democrats really are pathetic. It's not too difficult to COMPELETLY fill out a voter registration card. If you can't follow the rules, perhaps you shouldn't be even voting in the first place.

The same people who had thousands of military votes thrown out because their vote was not properly post marked, something they had no control over????

These vermin know their people can't play by the rules so they complain about the rules. I want to yell at somebody!!! It doesn't matter what we do to make the process fair, it is never good enough. They are complaining that the rules are making it too difficult for them to cheat. Absolutely amazing. I really wished the MSM would get a clue and report the seriousness of this issue. We used to have poll taxes and intelligence tests before people could vote. You would think they would appreciate how easy it is now.

And...
Jimmy Carter warns that Blacks will be denied voting rights in Florida.

Foreign observers are brought in under the control of convicted (in the Senate) felon democrat Judge/congressman ALCEE HASTINGS.

etc. etc.-- Numerous accounts of voter registration surfacing each day.---

Anyone who does not see this as the groundwork for the stealing of this election is an idiot.

If neutral observers raise a protest over the normal democrat fraudulent practices....

I doubt that will even happen to any significant degree. I think all of the "monitoring" groups are just there to create chaos on election day and start filing suits on Nov. 2--they really intend to steal this thing.
