Guess who said the following about the United States-led military action in Iraq:"I think I did the right thing about this war ... I think we should have gotten rid of Saddam Hussein. It's a good thing he's gone."
1) President Bush?
2) Vice President Cheney?
3) Donald Rumsfeld?
The correct answer is none of the above.
Those warlike words were uttered many months ago by none other than Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina - the guy who now wants Cheney's job.
At Wednesday night's screening of Alexandra Pelosi's documentary, "Diary of a Political Tourist" (airing Monday night on HBO), I sat next to Pelosi's Democratic mom, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.
We watched as the man who's now John Kerry's running mate - but back then was a candidate for President in the Iowa caucuses - deals with a flannel-shirted protester.
"How do you feel about 3-1/2 thousand Iraqi civilians dying because of your vote for the war?" the young man demands.
Edwards: "I think I did the right thing about this war."
Protester: "So you think they should be dead?"
Edwards: "I think we should have gotten rid of Saddam Hussein. It's a good thing he's gone."
"Wow," I whispered to my seatmate. "That's a lot different from what Edwards was saying the other night in his debate with Cheney."
(During Tuesday's debate, Edwards argued repeatedly that instead of going to war, Bush should have allowed the weapons inspectors time to do their jobs. Then Bush would have learned that Iraq actually had no weapons of mass destruction and thus there was no reason to divert military resources from targeting Osama Bin Laden.)
"I'm sorry," a surprised-looking Pelosi parried. "I wasn't paying attention. I didn't hear what he said."
When I asked Alexandra Pelosi about Edwards' apparent contradiction, she laughed: "I think that no one's gonna notice."

In a nutshell, that is what the DemonRATS count on. And sadly, it seems to be true.
And they know that the MSM isn't about to point it out with glaring headlines, as would be the case if President Bush or VP Cheney did this.
