Voter Fraud: Colorado Under the Blogoscope

Rocky Mountain blogger Joshua Sharf is reporting on the issue of voter fraud in Colorado. In this post, he discusses a Denver Post editorial. He's also covering a lawsuit pitting Common Cause against the Colorado Secretary of State. His latest post is here.

Short version of the lawsuit: The state official wants to require folks to provide sufficient ID before they vote, to reduce the chances for fraudulent voting. Common Cause wants people to be able to vote without being asked for sufficient ID. Common Cause is a liberal organization that pushes an agenda allied with the Democratic Party. Draw your own conclusions.

From Sharf's coverage:

The state did eventually provide answers to all three plaintiffs' complaints. First, the sheer volume of absentee and provisional ballots will probably overwhelm any pre-existing systems for avoiding double-voting. Secondly, requiring IDs does in fact raise the bar significantly for impersonating someone else - you need to research their address and whatever personal information you can provide, rather than just know their names. My guess is that, in what the judge admits is a near-run thing, the plaintiffs have failed to make their case entirely, while the state has just squeaked through. To keep an eye on liberal vote fraud in Colorado, keep an eye on Sharf's blog.

Help STOP Vote Fraud! Click Here to Take Action Now! Congress.org ^

Vote fraud threatens the very core of our republic, and it directly threatens our sovereignty

Please send the following message to your Congressmen and Senators:

Please pass, on an expedited basis, emergency legislation to require voters to show ID at all polling places on Election Day.

Vote fraud threatens the very core of our republic, and it directly threatens our sovereignty. There is a significant amount of evidence emerging that evinces a wide-spread plot to engage in massive voter fraud. Thus, Congress must take immediate action to counter this potential menace.

Congress has the express power to dictate the time, place, and manner in which federal elections are held. The congressional power to make or alter time, place, or manner of federal elections extends to the regulation of voter registration. Federal regulation of the electoral processes, including the regulation of federal voter registration, is also consistent with the Tenth Amendment and permissible; although states do have broad discretion to enact and implement registration procedures, states may not transgress the Constitution. It follows that state voter registration and Election Day statutes that are inconsistent with federal voter registration and Election Day mandates are preempted.

As per the Federal Court in Byrd v. Brice, the government may require a voter to furnish proof of identity at the polling place on Election Day. Such a measure would go a long way in protecting citizens’ federal voting rights from fraudulent practices.

Please set to work immediately on enacting emergency legislation to require a valid ID at the polling places on Election Day.

That's how I read it.

As an aside, there is an ad running in our city that has been saying that our polling places will require ID for first time voters... I've only caught the ad once so far, and it addresses other voter questions like provisional ballots..but I didn't catch it. I mention this, because we have a large population of illegal aliens. What I didn't hear is if the ID has to have been issued here in the US. Everyone should be ID'd each time to match the voter roster, and prove they are citizens...everytime IMO.. If they consider that intimidation, then maybe they'll not wait till the last fricken minute to figure out the process.

It seems a no-brainer that one of the best ways to eliminate voter fraud is to require ID such as a driver's license, even a checkbook, anything that links the person to the name in the register. But Dems ALWAYS oppose that - why? Are they trying to FACILITATE voter fraud?

It takes more ID to get on an airplane or go to a hospital ER with a broken arm, than it does to vote. What is wrong with this picture?

I am in Colorado and I will be doing everything I can to stop voter fraud here. All of us have to do our own small part and the RNC and the Bush campaign have to go after fraud hard because it is very rampant with these unethical liberal Bush hating democrats.

I think most of us have known for quite awhile that Democrats will cheat to win. But I am more worried this election year than any other because of the pure hatred and ignorance many democrats have for Bush. I have no doubt they are committing fraud in this election and I think it's worse than in 2000. I agree we have to do everything we can to stop this fraud and bring it to public attention. We can't just talk about it if we aren't prepared to do whatever we can in our current position to fix the problem. I just hope that the Bush Campaign and the RNC are taking this very serious and have equal or even more resource's to find and prevent these things from happening before the election and on election day. We need an equal amount of lawyers at these polling places if not more. This is a very serious threat and I think the election fraud committed by the Democrats this election is worse than it has been in quite awhile. We have to do whatever it takes to prevent this and get President George W. Bush Re-elected this November.
