Did anyone else notice that after the debate was over and the families were on the stage, that all the reporters converged on the floor in front of Cheney (even to the point that they were shouting over each other asking him questions and taking his picture) and then they showed you Edwards. He was standing on the stage leaning over shaking the hands of the 2 or 3 people standing there by him at the time. That moment was priceless.

Here's my take. Now keep in mind that I had to listen in over the radio. But it seemed to me that the big moment was when Cheney went after Edwards for his absences from the Senate, noting that the debate was the first time the two had ever met. That one was a real stinger.

Compare tonight's big one-liner with the defining moments of the VP debate from 2000: The little back-and-forth joke about Lieberman going into the private sector and how Cheney should help him do so. During the whole debate four years ago you got a sense that Cheney and Lieberman were gentlemen who respected each other and were there to articulate their differing positions and opinions. The one time it got really negative was when Cheney went after Lieberman's becoming a yes-man for Al Gore, and yet during this "attack" he also expressed that he felt bad having to take up this line, that he really respected Joe and was genuinely concerned over what seemed to be his abandonment of principle.

Compare all that to tonight's debate. There was no congenial, gentlemanly sense of respectful disagreement. You got a sense from Cheney that he outright feared an Edwards vice-presidency; the contrast of his respect for Lieberman with his blatant, unapologetic unfamiliarity with Edwards could not be more striking.

Edwards won't carry the South for Kerry, not even North Carolina, and tonight he forfeited his other supposed "advantage," his "pretty-boy" charm. Johnny boy may not have been a buffoon, but he was generic at best, and when you're up against Dick Cheney that's not going to do.

Slogan for Kerry/Edwards = MISSING IN ACTION!

They failed to show for the Senate vote on extending the tax cuts.

John Freakin' Kerry has been running around the country for almost two years in his quest to be JFK2. Now with only a few weeks until the election, we are told that we will now see the real John Freakin' Kerry! Were his efforts for the past two years a fraud on the American Voters?

I thought that Kerry beat Bush badly last week and said so here. Tonight, Cheney beat Edwards far worse. This was not close.

Edwards' comments on gay marriage were, as Sully might say, "gobsmackingly stupid."

Edwards seemed a "little too interested" in the issue of gay marriage if you catch my drift.

BTW: His attack on Cheney's voting record was an attack on me, as I agreed with Cheney on every one of those "controversial" votes, especially with regards to the TERRORIST Nelson Mandela.

Dennis Miller on Jay:

"I like Bush. He gets out of bed every morning puts both feet on the floor, scratches his b*lls and says Let's kill some F'n terrorists today!"

Gotta love Dennis.

Good grief, I was willing to admit that Bush got beat on Thursday.

But, this is just awful. Cheney was asking Edwards where he wants him to squirt it. On his back or on a towel.

Ron "Finocchio" Reagan is applying what will become the Democratic mantra "this debate doesnt matter, it has changed no ones mind."

Thank goodness we have this incredible man helping out our President and our great country in our time of such need; I truly couldn't be more proud of him and the job he did. I imagine a lot of the old Founding Fathers were probably a lot like him in wisdom and temperament. God bless Dick Cheney and keep him in good health; I really wish there were still more guys like this left in the leadership of America.

Well I hope you stuck around long enough to hear Bill Kristol give drunk Susan Estrich her well deserved bitch slap! And I bet she doesn't call Bill Kristol a liar ever again!

Susan was obviously out of sorts by the poor performance grades Edwards was getting from all the talking heads.

Thank you Mr. Kristol!! Finally someone screams out loud when spin turns into personal attack on someone's credibility. "I didnt' come here tonight to be called a liar by Susan Estrich", Bill Kristol said, and she can wave that transcript around all she likes!!!

I've watched some of the post-debate commentary on the various stations, and many of them sound clip Edwards' attack on Cheney's congressional voting record. Particularly, they all imply he's because he voted against MANDELA. I rewatched the debate but didn't see this during Edward's list of attacks...voted against the dept of Education, MLK, Meals on wheels.... Did I miss something?

Basically, it was Vice President Gravitas against Senator Lightweight. John Edwards was out of his league tonight.

I was so proud of Vice President Cheney. He did not let me down. I wish that the President was as good a debater. Cheney just outclassed The Silky Pony with that cool, calm and precise manner of his. Not since Reagan have I enjoyed a debate so much. The democrats are so frivolous and trivial, and so utterly clueless on how to deal with the terrorist enemy. Once again it was a reminder that we should banish them to oblivion on election day.
