Opinion poll gives Howard edge [Australia]

Mr Howard is now slightly ahead of Mr Latham

The latest opinion poll for Australia's federal election showed Prime Minister John Howard slightly ahead of his main rival, Labor leader Mark Latham.

A survey by market research firm ACNielsen gave Mr Howard's conservative coalition 52% of the vote, compared to Labor's 48%.

With less than a week to go before the 9 October poll, Mr Latham has turned his attention to Tasmania's forests. On Monday he pledged to reduce logging in the area, while safeguarding jobs.

If Howard wins, it'll sure take some of the wind out of Michael Moore's sails...

He wants all fo the major leaders in the liberation of Iraq replaced. If Howard wins, it's a good start.
