BUSH'S US$50M BAILOUT
Grenada, Jamaica, Haiti on rescue list

Victims in hurricane-ravaged islands such as Grenada, Jamaica and Haiti may soon have something to smile about, if a request from US President George Bush for $50 million to aid in international disaster and famine relief is granted by the US Congress.
In a press release yesterday, the United States Embassy said the funds for the Caribbean formed part of a $7.1 billion supplemental budget request to assist US and international regions which were heavily damaged this hurricane season.
So far, the United States has provided US$3.8 million worth of assistance to Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas, via the US Agency for International Aid (USAID), following Hurricanes Ivan and Frances, and Tropical Storm Jeanne.
USAID has provided US$2 million in humanitarian response to Haiti. On September 23, USAID airlifted 300 rolls of plastic sheeting for shelter; more than 5,000 ten-litre water jugs; and 3,660 hygiene kits to Port-au-Prince.
A team comprised of experts were also dispatched to help coordinate relief efforts with local disaster officials. In addition, the team also secured an aircraft through Air Serv International to provide aerial assessments, and transport personnel and supplies.
Grenada has received more than US$900,000 in humanitarian response, as well as relief supplies. USAID also made available US$100,000 to the US Embassy in Bridgetown to support the local purchase and distribution of emergency relief supplies to Grenada.
USAID also provided US$50,000 to fund assessments of Grenada's electrical system.
Jamaica has received more than US$694,000 from USAID, while US Ambassador Sue Cobb secured the automatic release of US$50,000 to fund shelter operation costs.
Partnering with other organisations, USAID provided nearly US$400,000 for the purchase and distribution of medical supplies, and US$25,000 in water tanks.
The Bahamas has received more than US$284,000 in humanitarian response, while the Dominican Republic received US$50,000.
Don't they speak French in Haiti? So how much relief money is France sending them?
Well there goes a couple hundred million taxpayer dollars down the toilet. If even a tenth of that money doesn't end up in the pockets of the corrupt and actually goes to the uses its for I'd be VERY surprised. We of course will not even recieve a thank you from the ingrates.
