While most Americans do not support gay marriage, the Constitution should not be amended in an attempt to block them. The Federal government has NO jurisdiction over who marries and who doesn't and shouldn't be given a foot in the door.
Bear in mind, those that break current laws on marriage will not be held in check by an Amendment. It is a state issue and we should be taking care of it at home, not looking to the feds to bail us out.
