DCCC list exposes lawmakers in arrears
House Democratic leaders have chastised members of their caucus who have not paid their dues to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
At yesterdays Democratic leadership lunch, lawmakers were given a seven-page document, listing how much each lawmaker has given. The list makes it abundantly clear which members of A committees have not ponied up their requisite dues to the DCCC. Ranking Democrats are required to give 150,000 to the DCCC and members of top committees need to give $100,000.
The document lists Reps. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.), Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) and William Jefferson (D-La.) as some of the lawmakers who are in arrears. McDermott and Jefferson serve on the Ways and Means Committee.
Greg Speed, spokesman for the DCCC, declined to comment on the specifics of the document. It is an internal document, said Speed.
A third of our budget is to come from our members, and were very happy and were making strong progress, he added.
Were making a strong push to the caucus, as Republicans are to theirs, to receive contributions from members as soon as possible, said Speed. Hans Nichols |
