[history]
This year's USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup polling on the presidential race is coming under attack from liberal critics who say Gallup's methods produce results that are biased in favor of President Bush (news - web sites).
Gallup says it stands by its work, which Tuesday showed Bush ahead of Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) by eight percentage points among likely voters - if the election were held "today." That was down from a 13-point lead for Bush two weeks earlier. Gallup's recent polls have consistently shown Bush further ahead than he is in other surveys.

Actually, it's what Gallup doesn't do that is at the heart of the debate. The polling firm does not adjust its "pool" of voters to add or subtract Republicans or Democrats in an effort to mirror those parties' estimated make-ups. Yeah go stand outside the local Democratic HQ and survey those people. Sheesh... (whine)you aren't polling enough of our guys(/whine)

This year's USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup polling on the presidential race is coming under attack from liberal critics who say Gallup's methods produce results that are biased in favor of President Bush (news - web sites). Then Gallup sacrifices its reputation, and suffers as a business in the process. That's the free market, liberals. Gallup would be cutting its own throat if it just wanted to back a candidate at the sacrifice of its reputation (hear that Zogby?).

Maybe more people are proud to call themselves Republicans NOW instead of waiting until they are in the privacy of the voting booth to pull or punch the "R".
I love seeing MoveOn in such desperation. Heheheh!

MoveOn had no problem with Gallup for most of the year when it showed Ketchup Boy ahead. Now its fall and President Bush is ahead and all of a sudden they view Gallup as "biased?" Methinks they doth protest too much. MoveOn, thy name is hypocrisy! (laughing)

This is exactly why more people "claimed" to have voted for Bush in Spring of 2001, than actually pulled the lever. If they perceive someone as the winner, they will self-identify with that individual, regardless of what the factual truth is.
Gallop is correct on this notion of party identity....
